Volkswagen is to sue the makers of a spoof ad which shows a suicide bomber blowing himself up inside a Polo. The "ad" shows a man dressed in a Palestinanian-style scarf driving around London before detonating his bomb outside a restaurant; the Polo remains intact and the slogan 'Polo: small but tough' appears, as used by Volkswagen in its real ads. This tasteless clip has been circulated on the internet and VW is keen to distance itself from it, fearing damage to its reputation. The Guardian reports that the ad was made by a London-based creative agency who are said to have apologised for it, saying that it was never intended for public viewing and that it had been made solely for a showreel. A Volkswagen spokesman told the paper that "we are taking legal action".
