These are artists impressions, but they certainly look professional and
even though the Golf VI comes a bit early the mini SUV seems likely
to hit the market anytime soon...

Do I detect a hint of Alfa in the rear of the Golf?

I like the Golf VI. Looks way better than the present one. Although I think the rear could look better...

will that be the golf VI? or an updated version of the golf V?

looks guite a lot different to be just an update

looks good though

Like that perhaps^ ?

I thought the same thing you see

Oh...didn't see that. I like the stripe, more carmakers should make their top-of-the-line models with stripes ;) But I was thinking more of the shape of the rearlights. Maybe it would look better in som kinda Focus arrangement?

There was a rumor that the Golf coming to the States would receive a facelift before its arrival, described very much like the concept art above.

You realize that this is a study from somebody not even remotley connected to VW???

I think that SUV would be a good alternative to the hopeless-in-everyway BMW X3. Why? Cos it'll be cheap and just as well equipped if not better...trust me ;)

The Golf VI - Who even cares! The current one is soo good :D

A facelift is due for the Golf, yes. (also here in Europe) But from what I've read the Golf will get the Jetta front, i.e. the huge chrome part in the middle but that's it.
I think this is true, because VW never made drastical changes to the Golf, they'll change the bumper or stuff like that. They're not gonna re-design it to that extent. If they would, they'd call it Mark VI. ;)

I doubt it!
It is beyond me why we're always having those discussions about something that has nothing to do with reality!

That "Golf VI" is obviously a photoshopped Mark V with Eos headlights, the Jetta chrome grille-thingy and other minor changes.

Oh yes. And it is a pity imo.

Is it just me or do anyone else think that most german cars has started to look pretty bad lately?

Well some german cars, yes.
The 5-series, don't love it, stupid flaming surface and heavylook.
The 6-series, don't like it that much. Boring headlights.
The 7-series, ugly.
The 1-series, nasty flame surfacing and gay.
The 3-series, looks japanese and too heavy.
The Audi A4/RS4 - Dull..
The Audi A3 - Fair enough, but boring

All the Opel models have those same edgy headlights, hence I like none.

(A8 & A6 looks good)

I actually think Volkswagen has the best grip on the design parts lately,
wth a few exceptions offcourse. The Plus and the Jetta looks weird.

German cars have been big and square and austere since the beginning of time. Visions of old Mercs and BMW sharks and runaway Audis (supposedly) come to mind. And that's the way they were meant to be, in my mind: nice and subtle, not screaming for attention like some Japanese or American cars. Too bad that doesn't work these days anymore, hence "flame surfacing" and the Merc CLS (which actually looks really good, if not unlike a big whale).

Ok, my opinion:

BMW:
Most models looks like crap, som just like shit. 6-series are fine though, but if you are to believe Top Gear, that's about all there is.

Opel:
Don't like the high headlight thingie. It works on the Astra, but that's about it.

VW & Audi:
Why must every single model grow a goatee?

Porsche:
Well...the round headlights on the new 911 is a lovely flirt with the past, but the rest of the car is getting a bit old. The Cayenne and The Panamera are both just seriously overgrown! But the Boxster and the Cayman are actually pretty neat.

Mercedes:
I've never cared for this brand. Almost every model looks the same. The SLR McLaren differs a bit, but...nah.

Maybach:
It's not a Rolls-Royce.

Smart:
Dont get me started...

Wiesmann:
A cool car! But to be honest I think it's a bit overdesigned. It's more like a be-glad-that-it-exists car.

Have I missed anyone?

lets see now....

BMW: 3 is a bit bland, 1 is cool to a degree, 5 is immense, extremely underated IMO, 7 is just shite, 6 looks ok, Z4 looks cool and the X's are a pile of crap.

Audi: Cool. Awesome. Amazing.

Mercedes: Sleep enducing - I stand to reason that there is no pure mercedes (i.e. one that hasn't been involved with AMG/McClaren/Brabus) that is interesting in the slightest bit. And every single colour is a shade of grey.

VW: Like the new direction, chrome is a no-no though

Porsche: Cayenne is a little wierd but good, 911 is classic but the look should be retired soon. Boxter and Cayenne are mint.

Vauhall: Old stuff: Boring, new stuff like Astra Sport hatch and the forthcoming Corsa 3dr: Lush.
