Wank to Argatoga's MG

It could be a slow poison. I'll update the post.

Nice! Seems like alot of us are getting close to that first fire. Mine was sort of anti-climactic since it didn't exactly roar to life. That nest of wiring on the fender gives me chills though. When are you going to fire it?

There is still some ways to go. But now things should move along swiftly. The wiring will be redone with new wires and using the fuse boxes from my parts car. It helps that I cheated and am cheque booking most of this. :p

Next month things should start coming together... hopefully. :p

That's going in I hope...

I'm waiting on the driveshaft and oil metering pump lines right now. So naturally my mind has started to wonder.

I'm thinking of reinstalling the bumpers and painting them like this. Is this something I can do myself? How expensive is it to buy a can of matched paint?

Hate to say it, but painting those things body color makes them look worse.

They are ugly in general, but less so in color. I'm paranoid about some asshat parking by feel.

Anyhow I think I found the color equivalent: DuPont 43912 .

If you paint them and someone does try parking by Braille, the paint cracks and it looks terrible until you repaint. The natural 'rubber' surface is superior for that.

Paint ages. Even on a car five or six years old, you can clearly see where touch-up was applied. Get the colors matched, it'll be worth it.

i just had to QFT this... the car you posted above with painted bumpers looks horrible compared to the one in your repair-link with the black rubber.
also: spraying stuff yourself can be quite the pita. friend of mine tried to spray bodypanels for his scooter (ancient east-german thing, quite funky but only ~2-3m? of surface) and he failed miserably. to make it look good you not only need the right tools, but also a... erm... spraying cabin? that what you call it maybe? some place, where there's absolutely no dust or other things to ruin your job.

Paint booth. :) And yes, life sucks when you're painting something without one. Trust me on this.

Now that it is too late I found out that my 45mm Weber may be a bit too small for a street port (apparently it is fine for a stock 13b). Though most people at rx7forums think the ideal street car is a peripheral ported quad rotor that ideals at 12,000RPM and is fueled by a large garden hose dumping gas right into the intake.
