I just came home from the cinema... Awesome movie...

When I drove home, on the horizon there was a huge lightning... They are really going to promote this movie ;-)

I liked it as well.

(highlight to read spoiler) ---> Although, if the EMP killed all the electronic devices, how come the guy's video camera was still working?

good movie, but not as good as i thought it'd be...

i've never seen the book, so don't know if that's how the war ended, but in the movie, that was just such as halfass finish. wow narrator comes on and tells out they drank our water with tiny organisms in it and died...wow how exciting. it was like blowing up a ballon and all of a sudden you just let all the air come out...

not sure if that made ne sense....

That was exactly what I was thinking...

But even more (spoiler again!!!):
Obviously the whole of NewYork was completly destroyed, then the tripods fuck up the entire countryside, there is no way of stopping them, but a 700000 ppl city like Boston is relativley unharmed??? Come on...

Anyway: Still an awesome movie...

The CD is good as well, think Jeff Wayne narates it

If you mean the musical version (which is the most faithful adaptation of the book to date, since it's actually placed in the turn-of-the-century Victorian England), Jeff Wayne composed it, and the narrator is none other than Richard Burton.

God I love that album, my father used to play it for me when I was a little kid, it wasn't even on casette but on reel tapes.

What a trashy movie. Seems like they had a big meeting where they decided that they have to blow 200 US$ out of the window by all means. The characters just seemed stupid. "Hey, the whole world gets destroyed, let's drive to the next big city, where the masses of desperate people will rob/kill us for sure"
And the little girl...Man was she annoying. Stupid spoiled brat. The trashy ending deserves to be mentioned too. The only things missing were the US flag and a golden retriever.

I enjoyed it. And I felt the little girl was one of the best performances by a child actor I've ever seen. Tom Cruise wasn't too convincing though.

You are right about everything, but you just can't walk into a movie like that and expecting miracles... The action and presentation was superb...
I was telling all my friends: Awesome, in any other movie that 10 mill $ ferry going under scene would have been 5 times as long in any other movie... ;-)

And obviously they knew all along that the End just doesn't work in a cinema... Why do you think they orchestrated the Cruise/Holmes thingy ;-)

I haven't read to book so I didn't know what to expect. However, why couldn't they just change the ending. It's not that Hollywood is known for 100% accurate adaptations.

The film had it's moments, I give you that. I found it to be quite entertaining untill they arrived at the mothers house. From there it went downhill. The overly patriotic son, desperate to fight with the army ? It was so clichee. I had to restrain myself from laughing.

What about the whole cellar scene ? I think everyone understood the situation, why had they to prolong it with endless hide and seek scenes ? It was almost comical.

I'm not going to bore you with further criticism but am I execting too much from such a movie ? Probably, but I just can't stand the dumbed down crap that comes from Hollywood anymore. There are exceptions to the rule, as the recent Batman movie showed.

this movie is so mixed up.. i duno i just thought the visuals were amazing... but the plot was kinda i duno.. thing is its not complicated or anything but its like nothing happened in the movie.. except for them reaching boston.
edit: and oh yeah.. the ending usually what makes a movie great.. and this ending is uber gay.. i mean i've seen better endings in porno movies. so i left the theater just remembering the stupid ending and not the good stuff in the movie.

STUPID american movies..... why they dont snatch..... another european movie.

Well, again, you are right in everything, but then its called Entertainment... And besides the ending, it was just fun to watch with your brain on stand-by...
I really like those films...

And Batman Begins: Personally, I think it is one of the best action movies ever made... I LOVE the things they make clear about him not being a Super Hero, but a human with enormous strength and sense for technology... So far maybe the best comic book adaption...
