well just a something i was thinking about.

When i am rich i plan on owning 5 cars at a time.

they will be for 5 differant uses:
1. A supercar
2. Track car
3. A 4x4 for going off road
4. daily driver
5. a mad car

for me it would go like this:

1. As a supercar it would have to be the slr. I love its noise, its looks, its doors, its power i love everything about it.
2. As a track car i think it would have to be a 997 gt3 since thats what its made for.
3. A hummer H1 it was made for off roading and i love it.
4. As a daily driver i think i would have a porsche cayenne turbo s. I think it looks ok. Its not beautifl but its not ugly. I love its power, its interior, its engine and sound.
5. As a mad car i would have to go for a ariel atom since it really is the most crazy car you can buy.

so what about you?

5??? Two would do me - an Aston V8 Vantage would fulfill all my non-track day needs (rentals would suffice for the other odd occasion), and an Atom (supercharged of course) would be the track day toy.

Ah hell, make it three - an Audi RS4 for when I need to scare some friends...

you just dont need 5 but if i had to choose from how you said yours..

Supercar - Lamborghini Murcielago LP640
Trackcar - Porsche 997 GT3 Clubsport
4x4 for offroad - pffft ill just say Porsche cayenne turbo s.. lol
Daily Driver - Ehm.. Audi RS4 or an Aussie ford GT <not stock ofcourse ;)>
Mad Car - Get a Ariel Atom or Lotus Exige and mod the engine up and make it insane :D

Five cars, eh? Well, it'd probably be something like:

1) SLR McLaren -- A supercar you can live with, and fun for the tracks
2) BMW M5 -- this or the Audi RS4 for the same reasons as fbc
3) 1967 Camaro Z/28 -- something that I've always wanted, and it fills the muscle car need
4) Maseratti MC-12 -- is there any other reason better than to own an MC-12?
5) Volvo 740 GL -- my current car. I love it, and I'm going to see that it reaches a million miles before I let it go! (well, at least 500,000)

but if I do it the way carsightings sets it up:

1. A supercar -- SLR McLaren
2. Track car -- Corvette C5R
3. A 4x4 for going off road -- tough choice, either an H-1/M-998 or a Chevy 1500 rig.
4. daily driver -- M5/RS4
5. a mad car -- Caterham Super 7

going off carsightings' criteria i'd go with

Supercar - Pagani Zonda F Roadster
Track Car - Ferrari F430 Challenge
4X4 - Range Rover
Daily Driver - Aston Martin DB9
Mad Car - TVR Sagaris

and i'll add another one

Classic - Aston Martin DB5

Well
1)as a supercar it would have to be a Ferrari F40
2)track car : Radical SR8
3)4*4 well I'm not a big fan of the new ones therefore I would take an old Jeep willy
4)the daily car would be an Audi A6 diesel or the brand new MB S-class .
5)for the mad car I would have a custom made Triumph Tr3 :it means strenghthen the chassis, put in it the L6 (for the space) from the BMW m3 E46 and oh what the hell just add a turbocharged to it , and ceramic breaks just to slow it down a bit .

I'm going to take a cue from rjvracing and add a classic category, and merge the mad car and track car, as track cars do tend to be mad anyway.

So:
1. Supercar: Jaguar XJ220, just to be different.
2. Track/mad car: A V6 supercharged Toyota MR2, like this one
3. 4x4: Lamborghini LM002. What?
4. Daily: Audi RS6 Avant, debadged. Q-ship to the extreme.
5. Classic: Ferrari Dino 246. I'm obsessed.

If they had to be new cars: Arnage Limousine, DB9, Range Rover, Cooper S.
Otherwise: too many difficult choices.

1. A supercar -- Bugatti Veyron
2. Track car -- Gumpert Apollo
3. A 4x4 for going off road -- Land Rover Discovery
4. daily driver -- Mini Cooper S Works
5. a mad car -- Carver One of a Dodge Charger with +/- 500 bhp

1. A supercar -- Mclaren F1
2. Track car -- Ariel / Caterham
3. A 4x4 for going off road - Land rover from past 80?s 70?s.
4. daily driver -- M3 / S6 dunno
5. a mad car -- Vanderbrink Carver all the way baby!!

1. Supercar - Ferrari F40
2. Trackcar - Lotus Circuit Car
3. 4x4 - Iono...not my thing
4. Daily Driver - Lotus Exige
5. Madcar - Used F1 car

Supercar : Aston Martin Vanquish S

Track car : Ariel Atom

4x4 : Land Rover Discovery III

Daily Driver : Maserati Quattroporte, mmm

Mad car : TVR Sagaris

But since in this daydream I'm rich, I'd also get a Ford S-Max with the Focus ST engine ripped out and replaced with a V6 [to scare 6 friends at once], and a soft top of some description; probably a Morgan 4-seater or the Aero 8.

edit - And I've just realised there's no Lotus Elise on that list, so I'll have one of them too.

1. Subaru Rally Car
2. Any racing supercar thats barely street legal.
3. A BMW for daily use
4. A modern Ferrari
5. A 60's muscle car, preferable 68 Camaro Z28.

Supermad track car: Ariel Atom
Daily driver: Mazda RX-8
Classic: Saab 96 Sport

And then I'd just buy oddballs until I run out of money...

Easy: 1. 430 Spider
2. 997 GT2 once it comes out ( I guess you could be amongst the first if you pay a deposit for it now...)
3. Range Rover Sport (not extreme offroad, but hey!)
4. M3 CS
5. CCX

1. Supercar: Duesenberg Model J (I would prefer a Dual Cowl Phaeton)
2. Track / Mad car: Donkervoort D8 270R
3. A 4x4 for going off road: Willys MB or a Land Rover Defender
4. Daily Driver: Audi RS4 Avant

Aww hell..

(1) Track car. Gotta have a super fast stripped down track car, you're right with the 911 GT3, I'd also throw an Elise and a caged Z06 into the mix. This would be for track only, too uncivilized for daily driving.

(2) A tow vehicle for (1), might be able to combine with (7). I'm thinking VW Toureg V10 diesel, Ford F350, something like that.

(3) Fast GT car. Something a little more comfortable than a pure sports can in a 1 hour drive.

(4) Fast sports car. A streetable proxy for (1), close cousins of the listed cars.

(5) Luxo-sport sedan -- for comfortable cruising/highway and taking more than 1 person somewhere but can still handle. I'm thinking in the mold of the M5.

(6) SUV for offroading. True offroading beats them up -- I'd take a Wrangler Rubicon, Toyota FJ, something like that.

(7) Luxo SUV -- Cayenne Turbo, et al.

1. Super car: Aston Martin V8 Vantage
2. Track car: Mazda RX-8 with a twin-turbo modification - one of the only sports cars I actually fit in
3. Offroader: Toyota FJ Cruiser, front locker, 2" lift, skid plates, ARB bumpers and winches, offroad rims and rimguards
4. Daily Driver: restored/preserved 1983 Mercedes 300D Turbo
5. Mad car: Ariel Atom
