I'm one of those guys who is interested in numbers ;)

So I kinda find it interesting to know which cars sell most in different countries and to find out what differences and what commonalities there are in the way people buy cars all over the world.

I'm going to start by putting here the Top 100 of the best selling cars in my home country Germany.

The following list a summary of the sales figures of all 4 quarters of the year 2007. There are some cars who did not make it into the Top 100 in all 4 quarters, so the sales figures for them had to be partly estimated. Those are marked with a *.

The Focus is the best selling here!

Glad to see the A3 outsold the 1-Series in Germany! :D Although I would have liked to see the A4 outsell the 3-Series!

VW Citi Golf
VW Golf
Toyota Tazz
Toyota Corolla
BMW 3 Series (mostly 320s with those fake //M badges:mad:)
Mercedes C Class (some with fake AMG stickers)

Hm.. something like that, those are by far the most popular cars we have in SA.

No, it just reflects the fact that other car makers do not name their models differently, when they have a boot glued on ;) So for fairness Golf and Jetta are put together. The Jetta does not sell so well here anyway, so the Golf would still lead by far, even if they were separated.

yeah. I understand. Just a thought because in our stats Jetta is alone and coupling it with Golf would affect the stats a lot.

Australia's best selling car is the Holden Commodore

Huh?????? Do the Germans really like our national car that much in order for it to beat stuff like the Mazda 3, Honda Civic, Volvo V70 etc.??? o_O

I guess it sells rather well because it is really cheap to buy. It has no competition yet in that price class - until Chinese or Indian cars start into the market, that is...

I wasn't aware that the U.S. market for mainstream cars (non-SUV's, non-trucks) has been taken over by the Japanese that radically...

Mazda3 34394
Ford Falcon 33941
Toyota Yaris 29663
