What are the best selling cars in your country?

Well, we used to use station wagons/estates for a lot of things we use SUVs (not trucks) for now.

Vette Boss, should I tell our European colleagues what killed the station wagon? And why we have so many SUVs now?
 
Only when they start it, only when they start it. :D I'll consider posting it later; do you think I need to explain the concept of "unintended consequences" to them?

Well, as a car enthusiast I absolutely cannot condone anyone driving an E64 M6 :lol:. Nevermind that my whole point was that a M6 can't go where that trucks going. Not cheaply, not reliably at least, and when you have to do that everyday it sort of becomes a factor. Heh, and weren't you going on about emissions? Just think of all the ozone that V10 Bimmer is killing.

To their defence they are very keen on nuclear power as well, six reactors currently under construction, an additional fifteen about to start construction and eighteen planned for construction in the coming years. An additional 90 have been proposed in the future.

It was registered as a station wagon, so even though it was classified as a light truck, it carried car plates.
 
God I love wagoneers. I'm very glad I didn't buy one after seeing those fuel mileage figures though.

They worked better if you converted them to fuel injection. That's what I did to mine. Still didn't get more than 14-15mpg at best, though.

Unfortunately the V8 engines were absolute crap for reliability; bad lubrication and ignition systems. Mine had two engines while I had it, and the new owner reports that it now needs a third.

Sometimes I miss its capabilities. I *don't* miss the headaches or the roulette game that was starting the thing.

I like my Pathfinder better.

Well, I'm driving a Golf Mk. IV and when I need something bigger, I go to a rental. I have no truck, no SUV and surely not "multiple Jaguars".

So who's the snobs here? :mrgreen:

Doesn't have anything to do with handling

Because supercars atleast look cool and don't take unnessecary amount of space so someone canhaul a bunch of 2x4s once a month.
Plus they sound better.

My point is - don't tell us what to buy, we won't tell you what to buy. Don't complain about us buying trucks, I won't complain about you buying cars instead of clearly far more efficient motorcycles or scooters.

Fair enough, I'll just conclude that I still don't get why you guys like em, and you guys probably don't see the need/coolness factor that is associated with a tiny and frugal microcar

On the point of Americans and trucks.
I live in the suburbs of boston in a small town in a house that has a over a quarter acre of yard.
This is my driveway right now:

There are 8 trash cans full of yard debris and 4 leaf bags, along with the two large bundles of tree bits on the trailer (if anyone would like said trailer speak up it's annoying us)
Next to it is my mother's 2003 PT cruiser
All these things will be going to the town compost in said PT cruiser. It takes a couple of trips but it ends up holding about the same as the neighbors toyota pickup.
We also buy a 7 foot christmas tree that goes inside it every year.
We are redoing the entire house and all the supplies fit in back, even the ladders.

We don't need pickups, we do not need SUVs unless we are the head of carpools, which most people aren't. I have never been in an SUV that has every seat filled or is most cases seen one that is except for ones acting as carpools and shuttles, which at best are 1/4 of them.

It's a waste, it really is. Some people do need them yes, but not that many people do. I go out locally, where there are no areas to go off road and barely anything that would constitute as a farm and there are more SUVs and trucks hogging the the road I get irritated. My mother's friend has an SUV, no lawn to speak of and one kid. Another friend 2 kids, they have a van and 2 trucks. These people could easily do with hatchbacks but they don't. I don't know why but they don't.

At least as I'm at the gas station, filling up on my every other week trip I can laugh at them knowing they've probably been there earlier the same week.
