I like the idea of them - small, lightweight sporty cars (like a Miata), but knowing GM, they'll be under-powered, overweight, and handle horribly. Shame. :(

Yeh this is the one that Richard said should come to the UK but Jezza said "no! its underpowered".
It still looks good but its no MX-5!

You gotta give them credit for getting the styling right!
I've been following this car the past few months and the figures don't impress me. It's no better than a "look pretty while driving it" type of car. I don't think it'll be as exciting to drive as the MX-5.

I wouldn't want to be caught dead in a convertible top! (Unless it's an Elise or something)

They?re nice...but only 170hp?!? :x
I like the Saturn more then the Pontiac. The front looks like a VX220 with some Corvette C6 hints, the rear is not so nice, and why not dual exhausts?

The interior is VERY nice....also better then the Pontiac!

By the way....a sports roadster with 5 gears sounds....hmmm..."old"
What about a Solstice with a Monaro engine? Afterall we had this engine in the Pontiac GTO.....now THAT would be cool!

i agree with the dual exhausts....one just throws off the rear, its like its no longer in proportion :(

I like the Saturn... the Pontiac looks quite ugly to me. Then again, so did the "new" beetle, and look how many of those they sold...

The Saturn def. needs dual exhaust.

Maybe they'll let Saab doing the handling so it'll be able to go around a corner. I've also heard of a hot model sporting the 210 hp 2.0L turbo from the 9-3.

it will be the basis for the next Opel speedster

tbh, I was very skeptical when I first saw it(I don't like american cars) but chassis looks like a pretty good design and with a decent engine probably could compete with boxsters, Z4s and SLKs for a lot less :) that said the interior is still rubbish  and their intention to market it in RHD markets is kinda evident by the poor placement of the handbrake for a LHD car...

I'd still go the older Opel Speedster for its lotus handbuilt exclusivity and refinement

Poor placement of the handbrake!? Many cars have the hardbrake on the opposite side of the transmission tunnel. I personally like it that way since it doesn't get in the way of your arm when shifting and also your knees.

I also heard that there was going to be a redline version of saturn, and most likely a souped up version for the solstace too.

I've heard good things about the Kappa platform. The 170 HP engine in both cars will at least be tuneable, being from the proven ecotec family. For what it is, I think it'll be a good car.

The Saturn (who owns Saturn? GM?) looks fantastic and it causes me pains admitting an American car looks good.

As people have said, if they put in a quality engine, make it go around those things called corners and chuck in a 6-speed manual, it'd be a good car. Oh, and add a second exhaust, it looks a bit iffy with only one.

Yes - GM created the Saturn brand
Fark! How many manufactures are under the GM umbrella?? Holden, Pontiac, Chevrolet, Buick, Saturn, Vauxhall....err cant think of anymore :bangin:

 I knew it was big but not that BIG! Give em' a few years and they will have the Germans - Merc, BMW and Audi :p

They are like Google taking over the world

I personally do not like the Solstice, saw one up close at it looks like plastic.

It seems to have the same size engine as my car (2.4l dohc), but in the newer ecotec form. Engine doesn't produce nowhere near what it's capable of. Though the VVT might be interesting. I guess for the price it will be a nice bargain..but the cheap price might come with a cheap feel.

Maybe I would change my mind if I drove one of the two...but that's my opinion on the Solstice. The Saturn looks nice but it's on the same chassis as the solstice..so if one is bad...so will the other.

The LS1 or LS6? Though both are lifted from Camaro/Corvette. Probably won't fit since these cars are built on 4cyl basis.
