I was just watching a stone age Top Gear (Dec 1, 2002) and they put the Lotus Elise around the track... They have during the whole lap the time, a G meter, a speedometer and a map to show where the stig is on the track at that moment... I'm sorry but why aren't they doing this anymore?? Who told them it was a bad idea??

I was going to post a picture about what I am talking about but I have nought idea how to capture a picture from the video. (Tried printscreen... didn't work)

Top Gear always seems to be deciding between information and entertainment, and I think in this case they decided that the information got in the way of the entertainment.

I think it would be cool to have the information about how fast each car went around each corner (and how many g's they were pulling. I think I'll suggest it in the BBC thread.

I think I'd be pissed off about you taking credit for my idea... if I wasn't so lazy I couldn't be bothered doing it myself haha

I'd certainly like to see the corner speeds and avg./top speed if available.

I didn't notice it in that, but in a Bentley video, I too liked it a lot...

I liked it but its more entertaining listening to what JC & others have to say about it.

To print screen in WMP, go to Options / Performance / Video Acceleration and set the slider to "None".

I don't care about the G's, but a small speedometer down in the corner would be nice.

They should do what BestMotoring/HotVersion do. Have a camera that points to the dash, another that points to the peddal, show it as a smaller screen at bottom corners and see how stig steers the car.

my theory on it is that they got lazy and it cost to much

if tg uses the vbox, which i assume they do, than it shouldn't cost them anything since it already displays these figures while timing the lap...i figure lazyness too

What we should do is make a hi-res screenshot of how we'd like the fast laps to be shot, and send it off to TG....maybe along with a buncha digital sigs....might get their attention.
