Similar size to a Mondeo, like a 2.5 GhiaX.

Something with a bit of kick, not talking superfast or anything.

Under ?4k btw

156 is unreliable though

It's an Alpha..."unreliable" is a part of that word actually :p

For Pininfarina?s sake, it?s ALFA!!!

How about a Mondeo 2.5 Ghia X?

:p

I knew a chap with a Vectra GSi, nice car TBH (despite the name) quick too.

There you go, a bit old but looks lovely and goes like stink.

Peugeot 406 Coup? 3.0 V6 SE 2d (AC) 1999/T
They do smaller engines (and a diesel) too but I like the V6 myself.

406 Coup?s are some of the most beautiful cars around, especially for the money, if they're shiny, clean, with metallic paint and on a sunny day.

However, they are, especially around the ?4k mark, old Peugeots and therefore reliability is far from guaranteed.

He says he wants something Mondeo size so coupe's wouldn't really be suitable.

i think he means he doesn't want a hatch like thing

Toyota MR2. Mid-engined, rwd, t-roof and you can get it with an 2 liter turbo engine with 200hp.

I thought that a Mondeo replacement was needed, not a sports car. If its a sports car then a suitable old 1.8 MX5, perhaps?

Maybe a high millage(over 100k) Mk1 Octavia vRS, all the room and performance you need, although insurance is high.

a second hand toyota celica?? or... subaru impreza? maybe even an old VW GTi
