Car or bike, being the passenger I guess counts too.
I've been lucky; I got a "speed course" gift voucher for my birthday last year, and had a chance to see how fast I could get on an old runway [much like the main runway you see on "speed runs" in Top Gear shoots]. Even more happily, my insurers said it was covered in my insurance already.
So, the fastest I got was 103mph, and to be perfectly honest - that's fast enough for me! Just to make it into three figures makes me happy, and also taught me something - that I'm never gonna be doing that kinda speed on the motorway! It was terrifying [I run a 7-seat Seat Alhambra people carrier, after all], and rather jittery. Wasn't up at that top speed for long at all! I'll stick to the 70 limit [or thereabouts].
So I ask you the question - what's the fastest you've driven? Preferrably on a track day / drag strip / abandoned runway, unless you have access to a handy autobahn.
Breaking speed limits just so you can brag about how fast your car's gone is a bad idea, mmkay?
I have searched, apologies if this has been done before.
