My first, and subsequently my second car, is an '04 Lancer.

The first one was written off while it was parked by a 200SX 5 weeks after I bought it.

What a mess that pic! All that chassis damage, it would have been easy to write off.

You seriously should consider to not let your car be parked by other cars any more (Sorry, couldn't resist after I read your description, it really must suck to return to your car and see it in that shape) - how did it happen anyway? Most plausible explanation would be speed or slippery road conditions?

I live pretty close to a tight corner on my road, the advisory speed limit is 15km/hr, but this guy said he was doing 70km/hr around it.

The road was dry, hadn't been raining in ages, so it wasn't greasy or anything

Stupid idiot, and probably he was going even faster when he's already confessing that he's been doing 70km/h - rear wheel drive and drift angle sorting everything out...

This same thing happened to two friends of mine. One was parked out the front of someone's house at a 21st. Witnesses saw a car drive up the road and plough straight into it. It then decided to do a runner even though party goers were standing on the front lawn.

The second one was parked outside someone's house again and a drunk driver in a MX-6 came around the corner at around 90km/h and just completely took out the back of the car. Good thing no one was in it at the time.

Finally, I can ask the question which has been needing answering for years: Why a pickup?!?!

^ That is a baby pickup. I'll show you a half decent pick up truck before we can get to the good stuff ;).

My dad's pickup

Well this one isn't actually my dad's but his looks exactly like it just his has got a Mountain top on the back.

SO why do you buy pickups so much in the states?
It's a part of the culture, really. Pickups have always been tough, ready workhorses that can take a beating and keep on hauling whatever it is we need to haul. Snowmobiles, construction equipment, Jacuzzis, Howitzers. Nowadays people buy pickups as a fashion statement, but many still buy them because they need to move big, messy stuff around and look good doing it.
