Nice Legacy (my family has a non-turbo one), and welcome! :welcome:

Joined today and i?m the owner of a black Smart Fortwo with not 61Hp, not 74Hp but 84Hp thanks to an english man who enter gumball 3000 last year and was arrested in the USA for speed driving to many times. :D :D :D :D

:D :D :D You really think so?

You?re wrong! This is not the fastest car to drive at high speeds (thank god because it?s too small) but 0-60miles is WAW   AMAZING!

You can also be killed in a BMW when hitting a cat :D :D :D

What exactly was changed to it to achieve that power? I guess in such a small, light car it must be quite impressive indeed :)

The electrical "brain" of the car as values of power in which the car will only give 61Hp at 4000rpm.

The change i made (Mr. English man did) was to reprograme those values in order the power will increase from 61Hp to 84hp adn the torque passed from 94NM to 140 NM.

For example: On a trip i took to Algarve from my city (Porto) the 403 miles were done in perfect harmony due to this new amount of torque. I rarely had to shift down when overtaking and was also at 6th gear. Before this new programe had been introduced in my car the same trip would be painfull because i was always shifting down and with the foot down top speed was only 86 miles, now is 111 mile per hour and with the foot down it reaches 121 miles.

The most amazing is the fuel consumption. it DROPED a lot due to the new K/N air filter, the airscoop and of course the new torque!

It?s an amazing small car!

I got a Ford Fiesta of 2001... Great car... not the fastest in the world, but to carry myself on french's roads it's enough

'90 Toyota Corolla 1.3 XSi Liftback... I know, it's crap.

At least it's been running 350 000 km without any significant technical failures.

Finally took advantage of some free time and good weather to really wash and prep up the car.

Its a 2000 Nissan Altima GXE with 54,xxx on the ODO. I love it a lot, gets about 20MPG if I baby it around. My plans are front strut tower brace, speakers (2 of them are already blown), and a Cold Air Intake.

Hehe that'd be me! :)

I see those E32 7'er's advertised cheap on the market. Some bargains. Good to see your happy with its reliability but I've heard off other forums that those generation BMW's had below average reliability. Is this true? I know for sure that the "James Bond" 7-Series was quite bad in the electrics department thus why they're so cheap 2nd hand.

Anyway, nice ride and hope to see you round.

Ive owned my 7'er since early January and have never suffered from any kind of failure....the only thing that has gone to shit is the check strap on the inside of the drivers door (cut it out with a grinder) and the glove box lock & catch which I repaired!

Mechanically shes a beauty, engine is smooth, gearbox is crisp...brakes arent too clever though and once used hard, they fade BAD!!

James Bond 7'er?? Which is that?

Yeah there are some nice bargains to be had too...my car has SH upto 184000 miles carried out be a BMW specialist then lovingly maintained by previous owner, all the BMW literature is there and so is the tool kit and the medical kit, only the torch missing and I paid ?500 with 6 months tax and MOT

That'd be the E38:

Yeah the E38 had the electronics problems...but they're still great cars, especially with the M-style wheels and fully loaded with TV and heated seats. You can get them for the same price as something like a VW Golf, at least here in Aus.

I'm impressed by the mileage yours has covered though! Your model is before all the fancy electronics got involved...

She's still going on strong too Next stop 1/4 million :D
I almost bought a V8 730 but it solds before I could bid...good thing too, Ive heard they suffer with some problems on the early V8's

I like the E38's...they look like an E34 on steroids

Yeah and then they kinda lost the plot with the E65 which is arguably one of the ugliest cars ever released!

My car is a BMW 323i from 1996. It's stock all round, except of the 18" wheels I've just fitted. The next steps will be a sports suspension, new brakes and probably an engine kit. It's pretty expensive to get more power from this kind of car, but I found a tuner that knows what to do and has a very good reputation. Kelleners offers a kit for 3000 Euros, containing two camshafts, an upgraded ECU, a new air filter and a new exhaust. It only raises the power from 170 to 208 hp, but the idea of tuning such an engine is not getting the maximum power for me. I rather like an egine that feels good, likes to rev and has a good throttle response.

Obviously, I'm no turbo man, I'd always prefer a good NA engine.

Here's a (not very beautiful) pic of my Bimmer:

P.S.: also note my signature.

170BHP > 208 is a decent jump in power but 3000 Euros sounds pricey!! But its a nice car and I like the rims.

And good on ya for not turboing it

The E65 was just plain crap....it took me a while to get used to the new 5 series, but now I rather like it, but the new 7 will remain on my shit list

Nice car you have there interceptor

I thought about tuning mine, but Im gonna wait
Im getting 18mpg at the moment, if it drops anywhere near 12-14mpg I'll replace the engine with either a later model V8 or a V12

Then comes the E31 big brake upgrade & M sport suspension and maybe a new exhaust to compliment it all ;)

I drive a black 450 bhp -93 Golf VR6 syncro..
