Merc for me, as much as I love the old Ovlovs the Merc is in a whole different zone when it comes to interior niceness and specification. It also looks nicer with the chrome and elegant but simple styling.

Would love an W123 estate... One of these days...

The 262c always looked weird to me with its chopped roof. I much prefer the 242 coupe:

(yes, the wheels may be from an 850R and this one is slightly turbocharged)

I'd take the Benz. For Volvo I like to go older and get the mid- early 70s 245.

W123! A 240D or a 300D! Old Diesel Mercedes are awesome.
My Dad was thinking of getting a W123 recently, But ended up getting a W124 instead.

The Volvo is cool too, But i prefer the Mercedes, (Probably cause i really haven't seen many old Volvo's in real life, As they are quite rare in here in India compared to old Mercedes, Which are much more common)

Neither is traditionally good looking.
I love the look of the w123. It's a very good looking car according to me.

Obviously the Benz (sedan; wagon looks weird); that Volvo looks like a shit box compared to it (or any other car :p).

I do like me a good turbo brick, but a Petrol Blue W123 diesel coupe is irresistible.

Go for the Merc, Overengineered is still better than simply heavy swedish steel (delivered by Krupp and Hoesch out of Ruhr Area, Germany )

No seriously the Volvo is an safe car, but so is the Merc, I'm not convinced by the PSA V6 unit though, made out of an V8 that never excisted, runned rough as nut's and as seen in the "Top Gear supercar for a Mondeo Budged" -film, it doesnt like it very much to just beeing down on oil.

Go for a solid 2.3 unit, or go Merc. (some W123 managed to do over a Million Kilometers on the first engine)

Definately w123. I do like the Volvo's though. Lot's 240's in my country although they are now slowly disappearing.

Yeah? What about this?

Ok, you win this time; but I'll be back! :shakefist:
Also available as a smaller "sport" coupe.

This is a really hard one for me being the Volvo fanboy that I am.

I'd pic the Benz if I were going for the wagon or big coupe, but the Volvo for sedan or small coupe (if Benz even had one of those).

I've posted this many times in various other threads, but it seems applicable here: http://www.pbase.com/1riktigsvensk/inbox
