What would you guys buy

an 1988-1991 BMW M3 E30 or a 1999-2001 pontiac trans am?/chevy camaro???

Absolutely the m3. Just as long as it has a mabee 130k miles and had been taken care of. That s14 can be a fairly reliable engine. And I think in time it will show more value as the m3 is a fairly famous car.

I stopped reading after E30 M3

Buy the M3... now... run - don't walk - and buy that M3.

(Those two cars don't even belong in the same sentence)

M3. Period.

M3, unless it's been completely beat to hell.

M3. You'd be insane not to buy it.

i say go for the trans am

It says a lot as your going down the road, much more road presence than a typical M3 or Camaro for that matter, especially if you live in the west coast

Plus they use the LS1, lots of aftermarket potential

Are those drinking straws under the rear bumper there? :lmao:

Actually, and I can only speak about the Australian market, but if I was shopping for something at that price point, a MY99 Subaru WRX would probably get the nod...

I'd get the E30 M3. It is one of my most favourite cars of all time.
(My first car was an E30 and I've always loved that chassis.)
If you're in the US, you can get the 2.5 liter conversion to bump the power to the Evolution spec. The 2.5 liter M3's were pretty damn quick.

It also depends on what you plan to do with the car.
If you're a 'driver' then the M3 is a no brainer.
If you are only going to drive the car to work and do some stoplight racing, the Firebird is the one for sure. It's going to be as comfortable as a sofa and handle just as well.

I forgot in my head what the E30 M3 looks like but I dun care cos I have liked every M3 and M5 ever released (except new M5- looks).

The Trans-Am is tempting especially if you live in America with open roads and stuff but still no contest ;)

It depends greatly on what you want to do with it. If you wanna rip through corners, slide around, and otherwise enjoy the experience of driving get the M3. If you want to drag race and like feeling your internal organs getting smushed against your spine then get the T/A. I'd get the M3 cause I like to drive, not drag.

well let me list the pros and cons...

then trans am is 300+hp, newer (so willl be less maintance and easier/cheaper to fix or replace parts)

the m3 is a supercharged inline 4 with 200hp (its older and parts will be harder to find, and possible more expensive since its bmw)

if i get the trans am i wont have any money left to mod it, and if i get the bmw any money i have left will go into fixing it up....

Also being in canada its really hard to find both of these cars.AND they wont be touching the road in winter...

the m3 will rape you with maintance. trans am will rape you with gas. its also 2 completely different class of cars.

between the 2 cars you listed i would of course take the m3 bc i am a huge fan of nimble cars.

mho, if you want a good mix of handling and straight line speed, see if a 03-04 mustang cobra is in your price range. it wont be the best handling car bc of its weight but it is definitely tossable in corners bc it has irs and a lot of suspension work over the regular gt. its also supercharged with an underrated 380 hp so it moves. its also a pretty decent engine with dohc and has a bullit-proof transmission.

theres no point to have a 4 inch tip with 2.5 inch piping so those tips are plenty for the car

Oh, God, not the inevitable "AMERICAN CARS R T3H SUKXC LOLOL" argument again...

M3. No question. I would go back in time and assassinate Helen Keller with an oak armoirefor one of those.

It's not supercharged...

Do you really consider buing one of these or is it more like a theoretical question?

Theoretical: M3 all the time, except you're only ever going to drive in a straight line.

Real consideration: depends on what you are going to use it for: (best you make a small list to find out!) which distances, where do you live exactly (wouldn't make that much sense to buy a handling car if you don't ever get to see any corners) and last but not least costs / spares: I suppose that BMWs are a little bit more reliable than the GM coupes, but then the M3 you're talking about is 10 years older than the Firebird/Camaro, and BMW is not known for cheap spare parts...

Yep. If you love corners than you have t take the M3 and not the Trans Am
