Hi, i wanna save up over my time at uni to get a decent hot-hatch. My current favourites are the RenaultSport Clio 182 or the Honda Civic Type R. Bearing in mind ill be 22ish by the time i finish uni, i have to keep in mind the cost of insurance, which will be a lot :x . Anyother suggestions or oppinions on these cars?
thanks

Well, just one warning. It won't take long till the new Clio Sport comes along (2006 i believe). The Type-R really rocks and is in my opinion a better sports car than the Clio. But that's just me.

didnt tiff compare the clio to the civic? as far as i remember there wasnt that much of a difference, i myself would go for the clio (dunno, for some reason i really like it), but the civic is the better option and the value for money.

Peugot RallyE!!!!!!11

Golf GTI? or Mazda 323 GTR or yea the Nissan Sunny GTR ... i dunno but the new Civic looks like a bus to me ... its to big imo ... what about a 206 RC?
Anyways if i were u i would buy an Audi S2 ... thats one hot car! 8)

Mate of mine has the clio, and it goes hard! Not the most comfortable thing in the world and its kinda cramped inside, especially with anyone in the back seat. Dont know anything about the civic Type-R cause Oz doesn't get them (WHY???!!) but they seem like fun and it will be built a hell of a lot better than the clio

and yes the clio will be replaced by the end of the year, by a completely new car. Apparently will have about 200BHP from a 2L N/A :woot: but its all speculation as far as im aware.

have you looked at a Golf GTI? very mod-able if you're into that

mazda 323 GTR or Sunny GTiR

i say mazda but i am biased

Well they don't make the honda anymore, and the Gold GTi is a much better compromise since it's a lot more upscale, even if it's not as fast.

Don't know, but what a fantastic car it is...

Get the Astra VXR :D

Insurance probably will be insane on that though. And torque steer :D

yeah their are only 3 FWD cars that i would consider getting

nissan Sentra SE-R
Honda Civic SI (type-r swap)
VW Golf GTI MKI-MKII

tho the sentra isn't a hatch so you can't really call it a hot hatch

TF

i still say buy an S2  ... insane sound, torque and yea ... insurance too i think ...

GTi does make a compelling case for itself... but i am completely lost when it comes to UK insurance so i don't know how it stacks up there

you could always get an 92 lancia delta integrale... but maintainance would kill you beyond the 10k price tag
