Im going for a new job and if i get it i lose my holden commodore (company car) andwill have to buy a car of my own...i will get a car allowance. I live in australia and have narrowed the list to the following

- Subaru Liberty Wagon (might stretch the budget to a GT)
- Subaru Forrester XT
- SAAB 9-3 Linear
- I also like the look of the new Citroen C5 wagon

I think the citroen C5 is a bit expensive when compared to the subaru wagon

my budget is around AU$50,000

I need a medium to large car...i already have a subaru impreza gx for the wife. what are your thoughts?

no, im sick of driving conformodores and i hate fords...sorry ford lovers...

im looking for something with some performance and looks smart...now that i am old enough (27) to get the car i want and afford...i should be able too...

Ha ha very good, you have said the right thing :D
Ok under 50K with performance and good looks...I would go for a Golf GTI (39K) but theres a long waiting list. A Suburu Liberty would be allrite I guess ;) A Honda Accord Euro would also be another good bet.

stay away from the citroens
the Subaru looks good, but the Saab is just plain boring

all of what Leppy said is better than any of your choices though, but I guess thats a matter of taste

Aww what a cute bunny, i though it was someone's ass at first 0_o

I like the Suabur Forester...

the t5 is 10 grand above my budget before on road costs...thats for the T5

i dont really want to buy a "poverty pack"...hence the saab 9-3 linear is not at the top of my list...i want to test drive it though

I saw in Evo magazine (UK car mag) in the very back, they have a company that will turn your Forester into a full out Sti. They have a STi styled body kit, you get the STi motor, suspension, wheels, seats, etc...It's friggin hawt, but I'm not sure of the costs, lol...

I personally would go for a 2-3 year old A4 Avant Quattro with low miles. Since you're into wagons...

buy a troll and sit on his back.. no really umm a legacy?

My pick would be the Legacy Wagon...

Strong, reliable, loved by Top Gear, nice engines further up the range...

whats wrong with the Ford Falcon XR6 or even better XR8... but as someone said, the Volvo S40 is a good choice, but I don't think Aussies like volvos much because I haven't seen more than 5 here
