I'm thinking about getting my motorcycle driverslicense.
A friend of mine bought a Yamaha oldtimer for ?125. I drove it and it's not as fast as a normal car but that wind in your face  :D
What a sensation! And that sound..Man..I now visit him every morning to beg for a ride

I got my car license for a year now, and I'm not yet fully convinced that it's worth the effort and money. It's not cheap and because I'm still a student I haven't got a garden where my money grows...

So..any guys with advice? Is it worth the money and time to begin so early (19yo) with the motorcycle license?

I would love to have a motorcycle, but my parents have always said it is way too dangerous and I sort of agree with them. But, that doesnt mean that I dont want to try it...

My parents are having trouble affording a car for me (insurance, maintenance) and I've always suggested a motorcycle instead, but they just throw the idea out of the window.

But they really are practical. Cheap to buy, cheap to run, cheap to insure. They're hella fun. And it's sex on 2 wheels.

Yeah I am still surprised how little people have a motor, you can overtake in trafficjams It's much more fun and most people only have one suitcase to go to work, with a little ductape that'll be fixed too.
I know I had to post this in the motorsports section but it's too late for that..

Hi!

Well, I'm not driving a motorcycle but I owned this from age 16 to 18:

Btw, I tuned it! Topspeed went up to 90km/h (56mph) on the straight. :p

A motorcycle instead of a car? No thank you, the helmet messes up my hairdo!
(and I would never ever ride without helmet)

I wouldn't post yousendit links here, you may get banned because too many people will download the file.

that scooter looks nice. what parts were on it?

for the moment we (me with some friends) are tuning a piaggio zip. the top speed is 130km/h (on a car speedo!!, those scooter speedos are shit). and from a stop, it stays next to a honda CB600 for the first 200m.

not bad if you ask me :p, but it'll get better ;)

now for the bike thing. a bike is fun as hell, but don't buy it caus your car costs to much money. a bike at least costs as much! you drive a bike more, so you must buy more fuell, new tires every 3 months or so, a checkup each 5000km, some new parts, ... a bike is expensive as hell!!

130km/hr top speed for a scooter is really good  . I thought that they only go up to around 60 to 70km/hr.

Yeah it's insane, some guys get it all to 100km/h in the city...without helmets..mad
friend of mine is a paramedic, they call them spare-parts ...
I'm riding a Honda Transalp, but I would never think of riding without a helmet or even without leatherpants and protective jacket. that stuff has saved my neck twice...

 Damn! What do you do for a living? You have a decked out SKyline and soon a Ducati 999? Those are two very nice rides. That must be extremely expensive in Hong Kong currency too.

when i used to live in Hong Kong... i remember skylines were really cheap there... his R33 cos abt 19000 USD... i was driving around in an old WRX... paid only 5000USD there... cars there are cheap ass

Yeah but what about the european cars there? Like Renault, Citroen, Peugeot, Rover etc.? Couldn't find any reason WHY you should import these but I guess there a little more expensive there.

i think the only popular european car over in hong kong is Peugeot, Mercedes, BMW and porsche.... y drive european cars when i can drive turbo charged japanese sports cars... ten times the fun

yeah andrew and i belive that european cars dont have much potential for modifications. meanwhile japaneses ones...wow....pratically never ending. how is your hayasuba going andrew i havent talk to you recently. how fast u been in it?

Most high performance European cars don't need modifications because they are already perfectly balanced vehicles. Look at the BMW M3, Lotus Elise, Renault Clio V6 or any TVR - they're practically perfect right out of the box.

I will agree however that most of the lower end European cars don't have much performance potential while lower end Japanese cars do. Lower end cars like the older Corolla GT-S's and Nissan 240SXs can be made into pretty impressive vehicles.

yup... just moved to malaysia and damn the cars are expensive here... was at the dealers yesterday to look for a new car.... bikes are pretty dangerous cuz of all the wrekless a**holes that drive here... i skyline GTR33 cost like 41,000USD  ... only cars that i can currently afford are old Supra's... RX-7's... though not a good car for everyday use... or Nissan 300ZX... great car... anyone have any other suggestions

Older Supras are great cars - great for daily driving as well. A friend of mine has owned both a 1989 and a 1982 Supra and they both have been extremely fun cars. With a little work you can make a MkIII (his 1989) into a insanely fun and powerful car.
