I have a few incomplete shows, where there's a fat guy on the show as a presenter.

Who's he, and why isn't he on TopGear anymore?

Also any new re-releases of the earliest episodes on the way?

He was a fat, annoying bloke who will be referred to as "the fat guy" for the rest of his life. Mostly due to his awfulness. May is a hundred times better. This guy had no personlity what so ever. He was just a shade behind Clarkson and Hammond... I think his name is Jason...

...as has been discussed elsewhere here.....he is called "the fat guy" by everyone except his parents.

And no, don't count on the release of earlier eps for a while, as we're working on getting a new version of this site up.

I just wanna put in here that he knew what one need to know about motoring, but didnt really have a TV friendly personality. He did a fair job, but TG needs more than fair reviews, they need stunning. So dont give the poor man such a hard time eyh? Its not like Jason Plato is so much better.

Good TV presenters are hard to come by. Just think how awkward it is when the audience remains silent after you tell a joke.

i think his name was jason... by what i saw (from justin) he did almost nothing. he did probably 5 reviews and thats it. guess the BBC thought that he wasnt worth paying so they fired him. and thank god they hired james

his name was Jason Dawe

He was only in the first season of Top Gear and I personally think he was alright.

He wasn't terrible but he wasn't fantastic......guys don't be so harsh on him, he wasn't too bad.

He wasn't too bad? I guess, but in my opinion he wasn't a propriate guy for Top Gear type of show. He lacked the skills and quick wit of an entertainer, which meant that the show concentrated on Jeremy and Richard who had these skills. In the first few shows James was pretty similar to Jason apart from the introduction, but then he got the hang of it.

I think Jason could've done well in fifth gear, though.

Wasn't he stopped for drinking & driving - hence being changed?

Yeah.. I read a BBC News Article about it. The old guy was stopped for drunk driving and was forced to leave the show.
In a twisted way, it was good for the show. James May bring class, a bit of that English-ness to the show. A guy that likes car that, while might not be the fastest or the quickest, but are the ones you feel good about owning and driving.

He's actually a former world champion in junior go-karts(back in eighties) and european champion in Formula Renault(early nineties). He also won british touring car championship in 2001, and has constantly been a strong runner in the championship.

I did watch last year's Bathurst and did wonder why on earth did he do so badly in the race... I would've expected more from him, but the again the cars are very different. BTCC has front wheel drive cars with 2 litre engines, compared to the V8 Supercars down there.

ahh true... it was just his poor attempt to stay off racing line as he limped home to the pits which caused another driver to crash into him and flip his car that made me wonder...

whatever race car you are driving you should know how to stay off the racing line...

Especially if you're practically standing still.
He had more than a full width of a car to his left that he should have used.

Jason was a fat man whose chin wobbled alot when he went over bumps in the old Golf GTi.

Mate i dont like the comment you made about jason on one of the other threads (see above) I think it was very uncalled for and exteremly out of character for you, what did he do on you, even if he launched an attack on you, your comment still would not be justified, its such a low blow. If you want to get technical about this, it is a blatent act of discrimination on over weight people. I feel a moderator should have a role of responsibility on a forum as they were assigned to be moderator, they should set a good example, i would think the website admin would be very disappointed in you right now.

Im not overweight myself but i would imagine that there are bound to be some overweight people on this forum, and i myself do take offence to this comment as some of my mates are overweight. Your comment was a blatent attack on obese people, Overweight people have feelings just like you and i do.

Just please try and keep your future posts in context and engage your brain before your fingers, you don't want to go around upsetting people do you, if you continue on this matter i expect you wont make many friends around here.

^^^ why did you bump this old thread to say that? Keep it in the thread that you actually quoted from. SL65 didn't even post in this thread...... :bangin:

And he was basically just making an observation anyway.....and he has plenty of friends around here......

I posted it here as the moderator in question, locked the thread after his... comment. Observation it may be, but it doesnt justify the comment, and by the sounds of your last post it seems that you agree with him. Im not trying to make enemies here, i was brought up by my parents to be mannerly and dignified in this dog eat dog world, i just had to project my disapproval. Comments like that wont get you anywhere in this world

Don't mind him, he's 16. :p

But seriously, lighten up, this wasn't an attack on all fat people worldwide. It was just a joke. Just because this is a scarily PC age doesn't mean we can't poke a little fun anymore, so quit overreacting.

If you have any more concerns about him use the PM system; don't drag this out in the open.
