Why do they have not tested the CLK DTM?

They have tested the SLR three times, but they haven't tested the CLK DTM, that seems to be much better than his McLaren brother. Why???? :(

The CLK DTM isn't that impressive compared to an SLR, it weighs almost as much and has less power. Might be cool to see Stig take it round the track, but nothing more.

The SLR is a little bit faster than the dTM, but the tests say that the CLK is a better 'Driver's car'

Only in the straight line though. Cornering is far from being great.
But I never wondered about the CLK DTM, they should have shown it. :(

It is a bit childlish to ask "Why do they have not tested the CLK DTM?" or "Why do they have not tested the Corvette C2?".
You seem to be disapointed about that they not tested a car that you like, but that's not the way of thinking.
There has to be a point of testing a car, it should be new or famous or maybe original, for me CLK DTM is just another road going racing car, there are milion of those and this isn't particulary as interesting or showy as for ex. DBRS9 or MC12.

Come on, they can't test every car on the planet. 8)

But there are cars that they test a lot of times such as the SLR or the 911, and then there are very interesting sportscars that they don't test :(

they tested the 911 and SLR once. they've just used them alot

They need to test the 1997 VW GTI VR6.....with 186,000 miles, built in the end of 1996, with leather, and all power options.

because I own one?....no, that's not the reason.

On that basis, they should also test a 2000 Seat Alhambra, green, the 1.9 petrol option, preferrably racing it against suitable counterparts.

And I demand to know the bootspace in both litres and cubic inches [to satisfy those silly imperialists/metricists], too.

'Cause the CLK DTM isn't a real car really. It's just a street race car. It's a special edition.

^Like that Aston DBR9 (street version). They should put the 2 of them together head-to-head

Clarkson likes the 240Z so I have nothing to complain about. :p

I also read his Sunday Times car reviews every week and he never tests cars that I want him to test. He just seem to randomly pick one from the press pool. I guess it's the same with Top Gear. They just test what the companies give them.

I dont think it was that close to the DTM car. It was more a special edition, less a race car.

If they test a car loads of times it probably because they regard it as a good car. If they don't test a car at all it may be because the manufacturer won't lend it to them for whatever reason.

... or there's something better to show on telly 8)

Nah, they test cars they can make interesting features out of, which means an emphasis on performance cars a lot of the time.

If they had a Golf/C4/Focus rival on every week it'd get a bit dull, so they pick stuff that's either 1. rare, 2. sexy or 3. useful, with emphasis on 1 and 2.

You gotta remember, he's not picking cars that he wants to try, he's picking cars that either will make good viewing or good reading about.
