Now we can't do that.

and Scud, if you have a problem with a mod's decision, just PM him and deal with it in private, no need to go crying on the public place.

Scud, there's your answer.

Ren, lock this thread :lmao:.

I agree with Scud, but it is a delicate balance between nazi and chaos.

Reposts should obviously be locked, but I don't see the harm in starting a new thread for a year old topic. Nobody wants to read through 20 pages to get to something recent. Discussion is the point of the forum right? So if the thread sucks it will just die on its own.

Do you lock topics all the time?

To me this place is runned wanna be dictators who dont like it when someone makes a repost of something that was 2 years ago first time posted.

Give us our freedom back.

Well most of you dont know what it is if you live in USA.

dude... this forum is considered pretty easy with repost and stuff... on other forums I go to, I have the entire forum and mods PMing me and shit about reposting and not to ever do it again... so next time if you want to post something, do a quick search and if the topic exists and you want to start the discussion and bumping the thread, most of us don't mind as long as it is something useful... if you want to bump the thread to post this :lmao: , then don't because you'll just get flamed for it ;)

So you dont want the public opinion on this thing?

You just want to keep it secret for your self.

I dont cry out I just want to know WHY and I get other people involved aswell.

Still NO one have given a proper reason to close topics.

I understand flame wars but I haven't seen any of such here.
Double posts I understand aswell BUT not because something goes oftopic or if it's a repost.

I like when people argue about things I dont like it when someone keeps people from arguing.

We are all grown ups here let the people argue let them open up old posts.

My reasons for locking posts include rehashing of things that have been said 14138948138948134 ways before. Is the 14138948138948135th time going to be any different? No.

It would help to know what topic you are so mad about being locked? There is no need for 50 threads on a single topic, and I have seen nothing in the way of people bumping old topics (with useful added content) having the thread locked as a result. Bumping threads is fine, if you plan on adding to the thread with some type of meaningful comments.

In other words, read what Ren had to say... if you have a problem with a specific thread, contact the mod that locked it since most of us post something before we lock.

^well, most of the reasons that people do lock threads here is either:
1) Things are getting out of hand and people start being rude to each other, so somebody has to break it up. This is not a "flame war" forum, we want to keep this a peacefull community

2) Things get posted twice, in different sections and it's hard to keep track of two topics about the same thing, so admins lock the weakest one and redirect users to the more larger topic. This is done to keep things from getting confusing.

3) Because, as you said earlier, we now have to relly on outside sources ourselves, and if we keep mentioning them in the forums (which anti-piracy groups do check, as we can see) then we will run out of resources fast, so we tend to lock them in order to shut people up. Most people understand this, but there are also stupid people that are either too lazy (or inconsiderate) to read the rest of the thread, and they mention the source again !!! That way, the only measure that would shut them up would be to close the thread.

I for once agree with you on locking 2 year-old re-posts, because I myself am new to the forum and I don't know much about what was posted from the beginning, and I certainly have more important stuff to do than read archived threads that heppened way before the context of me being on this webspage, although sometimes I do read them, but only when I have time to.
Thread lock are there for a reason, and I'm actually glad you brought this up, nobody here is a dictator or trying to control everything (except for ren - just joking, ren buddy :p ) and thus they are only locking the thread, not deleting it, not banning or suspending anybody and people can always make a new thread to redeem themselves and ask pardon for re-posting (because it's the polite thing to do). I, for once, like it when our members say at the end of posting some new information something like "sorry if this is a repost" especially if they don't read the forums that often or watch it completely.
And nobody is mad at nobody for doing a repost, it happens, we move on, and our members should understand that it's for the best of the forums.
Thanks for your attention.

By popular decision and also to make fun of Scud

:lock:

If you're not happy, feel free to PM me :lmao:
