You should have asked that yesterday when I was still able to look up what my first guess was.

But as far as I remember, I opened with RAISE, so I had xxxSx fixed and knew there was an 'I' in it, but not in third position. It seemed sensible to assume xIxSx pretty quickly. And I had already ruled out 'E', 'A' and 'R'. For the last letter, pretty much only 'H', 'T' and 'Y' remained as sensible choices.
That didn't leave that many words from my vocabulary... and none with another vowel came to mind.

But you had it in three guesses, which is also very good, especially considering the solution.
