PROUD Andy Frost owns the world?s fastest street car ? a clapped-out VAUXHALL he paid ?60 for.

The dad of three has transformed his 1972 K-reg into a mean machine that does 0-60 in ONE second.

The Vauxhall Victor takes just 7.8 seconds to hit 183mph ? which would leave even Formula 1 racers for dead.

Engineer Andy bought the banger 25 years ago and has since lavished ?100,000 on it.

The car is street legal but so old it doesn?t need a tax disc.

He has fitted it with a modified 9.3-litre Chevrolet engine. Andy, 45, of Wolverhampton, grinned: ?We could?ve had a bigger house.

?But we have a unique car faster than any other on the road.?

Wife Debbie, 41, said: ?The car?s become like one of the family.?

Isn't this the same car that was featured on Fifth Gear not too long ago? I'm all for fast cars, but it does seem like his family had sacrificed a lot just so he can go on with his hobby. What an asshole

It's Andry Green, eh? the holder of the land speed record holder?

Ah yes, I saw this on You Tube off a video from Fifth Gear, some hip young cat was presenting it.

Has it been verified as the fastest street legal car??

It looks pretty damn cool if you ask me

I am pretty sure his wife rather he spends loose cash on a car than a girlfriend^^

Out of curiosity, how is it street legal and capable of hitting 60 in a second?

...Is it really a lawnmower in disguise packing a big-block V8?

The rules here are fairly lax really. As long as theirs no sharp edges, you have all the correct equipment (lights etc.) and the engine is covered then you can basically make whatever you want road legal. I don't think anything specifies what fuel you can use either. The only difficulty would be getting insurance but I'm sure there are plenty of specialists.

OFN!

i remember seeing that on fifth gear. it really moves! i don't think much of it is original, i think it was all replaced for CF to make it as light as possible. they showed the guy driving it down the street and picking his kid up from school. you can tell he spends all his money on the car by looking at the house...

on which fifth gear was that?`on one of the new ones that i stopped watching after ep 3?

There must be a threshold on how fast a car can be, and this guy's way past it. From what I saw in the video, his tyres weren't doing a decent job of transfering that power onto the road.
