WRC cut from SpeedTV!!! (sign petition to rid NASCAR)

This is ridiculous. SpeedTV has cut their coverage of the WRC from its programming.

They run something like 20 different NASCAR related programs!!! And they don't even cover the major racing series in the world that is technically higher ranked than NASCAR. SpeedTV is the only automotive related channel on American TV. It is probably 70% NASCAR and 30% everything else. We get 3 year old Fifth Gear episodes at 4:30am. We get half decent F1 coverage. We get shortened summaries of WRC rallies. We get year old DTC and BTC shortened races. It's disgusting. :x

Please help our cause and sign the above petition! I am tired of watching SpeedTV and seeing these NASCAR reality shows.
 
That's horrible, nascar is not racing. I hate nascar with a passion!!!!

Too bad i dont even have speedtv but most wrc coverage is only highlights of segments... which is not that exciting.
 
theres no way you could rid speed tv of nascar. i'll bet thats whats bringin in all the money.....no matter how bad it is, its loved by the same people that can relate themselves with the dukes of hazard. and theres alot of those types.

Yeah, what they need to do is rename the channel NASCAR TV so I can just block it on my cable box and never have to look at it ever again. Someone needs to start a real racing TV channel (read: NO NASCAR) here in the states. Someone needs to pitch it to Discovery, they could pick it up and add it to their huge group of channels. I'd be happy to run it :-D
 
Online petitions never work, or at least from what I've seen. 4000 fans won't be able to take on the millions of NASCAR zombies. SpeedTV won't change anything.

Screw it, I signed it anyway.

Edit: Another interesting thing: there are a lot of people here from America, but nobody's professed to be a NASCAR fan yet. Hmmm... :think:
 
For how big Asscar is in the states they should have their own channel so the rest of us don't have to suffer.

Speed was much better before they started airing 50 different nascar shows all day, and i believe that they alienated, some of their die hard viewers by doing so, this thread and the petition is just reinforcement of this.

They should change the name from Nascar to Left :thumbsup:

I guess that I'd be the first to do so, but I find it useless to fight people who are dead set against NASCAR. Odd that this would come up on the same day I posted my tidbit about NASCAR's future...

I am upset about Fox using Speed as a NASCAR channel (only showing other racing during the day when no one's watching), as I really enjoy racing altogether (especially the Aussie V-8 supercars) -- and I'm not so much into any one racing series that I'd need to watch a channel dedicated to it...

However, most forms of racing, like F-1, are really about entertaining the fans and displaying their sponsors. Also, I've seen more lead changes in one NASCAR race than in the last few F-1 seasons.
 
Online petitions are the most pointless things ever.

That being said, NASCAR is still the most boring motorsport ever invented. It's more exciting to watch golf that that garbage.
 
Actually, there's something else I just realized.

Isn't it possible that rather than Fox deciding to drop WRC from Speed, that the FIA doesn't want it shown on that channel? We already know what assholes the FIA could be, and it's really easy to put the blame on what seems to be Fox's favored racing series.

And that list doesn't enclude British Touring Cars, DTM, Aussie V8 Supercars, CORR...

...though I do agree that the reality programing needs to go. Reality programs in general need to go...

No sorry, that was a close guess though. There is some degree of technology that goes into making a V8 rev at 8k-9k rpm for hours.....

Talent, Talent is what we were looking for. All of the talent involved in NASCAR could fit in one of their catheter bags.

But you did win some wonderful consolation prizes.

fastest growing auto racing series in the US....it makes so much money it's a joke...
nothing at the F1 level of money making, but for US standards...it's a goldmine...

i hate nascar with a passion...if it wasn't for MotoGP and F1, i'd cancel speed...if they get ride of F1 coverage...speed is out the window...only reason i have the satellite package i have now is for Speed...extra $20 just for races...
 
i am not a Nascar fan but business is business so that means Nascar isn't going anywhere- deal with it. Frankly, i would be happy if they just pushed coverage to ANYTIME and I can TIVO it. the only thing that goes on the air is what can generate decent sponsership. The problem is half the factory sponsered manufactures are not SOLD in the us. Do you think Skoda and Citreon are going to pay for commercials in the US? Their is no SVT focus any more, Mitsubishi is broke so that leaves Subaru who is selling cars fine without it SPEED airing WRC. such is life.......to mini nova i go....
 
I understand, but they usually air WRC coverage at like 11PM. For an hour or so. Why can't they spare 1 hour for WRC. Thats usually when the air it, unless I'm wrong.
