Nothing new really, they have colored old movies for about 10 years or so now.

No it's not new but I these looked great, I wanted some in 1024 so I could have it as a desktop, I really like the old look of it. That's why I like Band of Brothers so much, it gives you the "old" feeling... :)
 
how can they be digitally colorized... isn't it impossible to tell what color is it if its black and white unless they just put in the color that feels correct

You use a base. Like you know someone's skin isn't going to be purple.

Yes they are. :mrgreen: I love the fact that they're not just in colour, but the colours are actually quite spectacular. I really like this one:
