While it can be argued that the current Corvette is the best ever built, there are those who would say the C6 is, well, homogenized. Safe. Boring, even, at least in the looks department.

Christian Cyrulewski would be among those who are visually disinterested in the current Corvette. But instead of grousing about it over a beer or six with the local Corvette club, he's taken matters into his own hands and come up with the C3R. In his words, that stands for "third-generation retro Corvette based on the sixth-generation (C6) platform."

Christian's website is short on details but rife with renderings of a curvaceous custom Corvette based on the latest platform out of Bowling Green. Top Speed says Christian plans to cruise the Woodward Dream Cruise next year in a C3R prototype, and if there's enough interest, could offer a kit version of the car. Like your retro-styled muscle cars with actual muscle? Top Speed says Christian also plans a 427-powered version of the kit complete with side pipes. No word yet on pricing, availability, or, heck, validity of the C3R, but we'll keep ya posted.

I quite like it... not as much as the C6 based C2 vette... but I'd still have it over a regular C6.

I approve.

Very nice. Even for a Mustang fan. Would gladly have one.

Popup headlamps! U hot, lets sex!

Sorry but this one just doesn't do it for me. It looks like Vette dressed up in a Halloween costume - you can tell what it's trying to be but you're not fooled. The same way you don't think the fat guy with the "Dr. Seymour Butts, Gynecologist" coat and a toy stethoscope is a doctor.

With some more retro looking rims, it could be potentially epic :D

how can it be street legal with popups?

Yes. A cute secretary in a French maid outfit. It's still the same underneath, but with the best part of its proportions properly accentuated. Yum.

That's cool, i like it.

I saw the retro style C5 body kit at Laguna Seca concourse show once

There were at least 30 of these at the Meadowbrook Concours, and there are always lots of them at the Woodward Dream Cruise. It looks terrible.

But this C3R looks pretty decent. It's probably one of the only new car designs that has popup headlights.

I really don't like the 50s style retrofied Corvettes, but that actually is really rather awesome. Kinda makes me wish Chevy would have taken another 5 minutes or so to actually make the lines of the current C6 prettier.

When i think about it the truly surprising thing about that car is that i don't really like the C3 vette, and I'm more or less "okay" with the C6, but thats a looker, if it didn't have a kitcar stigma about it i'd love something like that.

Nice

Nice

I've thought about getting a c3 vett in the past but wasnt sure I was up for the issues that come with using a 30+ year old car as you daily driver. If this is priced good it might just be an option.

Might get shot for saying this but I think a c3 vett looks as good if not better then a e-type jag...Just something about those wheel arches

Pretty awesome looking, in my opinion it doesn't look so much as C3 body with a C6 chassis but more of a C6 chassis with a fusion C6/C3 look.

It's sorta like a sci/fi concept corvette.

I much prefer this:

If only that was the next vette, I might actually have to consider buying one.
