Your vehicle timeline

Unfortunantly, I never got any before I tore it down for restoration. At the moment it is a frame and two axles waiting for the body tub to be installed.

Hey, that's cool. You restoring it to original condition? Or are you going to go custom with it?

not sure off the yeas but hey....
Started with a ford fiesta 1.3 petrol, nifty little thing

Ford mondeo, 18 Td, nice car....boring as hell.

Ford Focus 18 petrol, nice car.....it was faster.....still bored

Ford f150 5L V8, god I loved that truck, though as nails and the stories that thing would tell if it could talk...still regret having to write that one off.....

Nissan navara 2.4Td (what you yanks call a frontier I believe) ,well that didn't go to well....bought it brand new and the thing was in the shop tree times the first year, and not the smallest off problems either..... combine that with a dieselengine straight out of a van and you can see I didnt realy enyoy the experience...

And so now there is the dodge, 4the year I've had it, god willing I plan on keeping it a while longer.

Short list, but I've at least experianced what its like to own a car from each manufacturing "region".

2000-2002; 1979 Pontiac Grand Prix, V6 Autobox, not sure the gearing; hand-down from my brother
during this time I also occasioned my parent's 1994 Ford E150
2002-2004; didn't own anything, but was using my folks 1987 Nissan Hardbody, 2.4 I4 (same engine in the 240SX), Man. 5sp.
2005-2006; 1987 Nissan Sentra Hatchback, 1.6 I4, Man. 5sp.
2006-current; 1990 Volvo 740GL sedan, 2.3 I4, Man. 5sp.

I'm still on my first car since 2003. I could have bought something else during my driving career but I chose not to since I like this Toyota very much. I'm the sort of person who keeps things I like very much as long as possible.

2002-2006: 1991 Dodge dakota
2003: 1977 Lincoln Town Car
2004: 1969 VW Westfalia
2004: 1966 VW Beetle
2005: 1978 Lincoln Mark V
2005: 1988 Ford F-250 4x4
2005-2006: 1995 F-350 Crew Cab 4x4
2006-Present: 2007 Hyundai Accent Hatch
2007: 1979 VW Westfalia
2007-Present: 1992 Ford Festiva

The dates aren't perfect. There was times that I had three vehicles at once. After this winter the list will change. The Festiva will be replaced by something more interesting.

I generally like to stick with a car for a long time. Since 1986, I've owned...

'59 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite
'87 Toyota Celica GT
'92 Nissan NX2000
'85 Nissan 300ZX
'86 Ford Escort GT
'94 Mazda MX-5 Miata
'02 BMW M Roadster
'07 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet
'07 Porsche GT3 RS

List is of cars I've owned myself (not cars I shared with siblings growing up):

1983 Honda Accord hatchback (ran it into the ground, sold to junkyard for $150)
1988 Suzuki Samurai JX (loved my little Sami, it was an absolute tank, would still have it now but I needed the money way back when, sold for $500)
1993 Mazda 626 ES V6 (wonderful little sedan... until it started eating it's own transmission for the 2nd time, traded in)
2001 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) Sport (brought me back to the 4x4 world, was great until children started being born)
1994 Volvo 940 Turbo (bought it with 150k miles, ran it into the ground, got $400 trade-in with over 200k on odo)
2001 Honda Odyssey (wife's minivan - but nothing 'mini' about it, it's freakin' huge!)
1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (4.7HO, Quadratrac, every option - owned less than month)

I've been wondering if I should reply, or if I'd just send you all to sleep with the dullness of my post. So grab some coffee or something.

1996-2002 Honda Civic
2002-present VW Passat

Snore. I'll be buying something new and equally boring within the next year hopefully. There isn't really anything out there that I want, but the Passat will quickly need more work than it's worth in the very near future (and I've never liked it).

Can't be bothered to think of the dates:

1989 Merkur XR4Ti

1991 Mustang LX 5.0

1994 Honda Civic DX (far far from stock)

l_b543825ceadde99e1574143f02f75b67.jpg

(I do miss this car. 9,000rpm, instant throttle response, and rifle-bolt shifter rarely get old)

1994 Acura Integra LS
(can't be bothered to find pics)

1984 Mazda RX7 GSL-SE
l_74c1be7097474b419c452ca045d73f3a.jpg

Yeah not sure of the dates or even the order:

1991 Ford Taurus GL
1991 Chevy Beretta GT
1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX
1987 Volkswagen Golf GT
1992 Suzuki Katana 600
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
2000 Saab 9-3
2004 Audi A4

Hopefully picking up a 11' Mustang GT next year.

1980 Mercedes 500SE - 2002-2004/broken odometer.
1985 Mercedes 560SE (originally a 380SE brought up to 560spec by previous owner) 2004-2006/280000km to 330000km
1983 Holden Jackaroo (known elsewhere as Izuzu Trooper. 2007/298,000km to 305,000km.
1989 BMW 535i 01/2008 to now/348,000 to 370,000km+

So I haven't really upgraded at all, still ancient cars with high mileages. At least the BMW still runs like new unlike the Jackaroo which barely ran at all.

Bangeronomics:

  1. 2003-2007 Opel Corsa 1.4 (black, 90hp)
  2. 2007-2009 Ford Fiesta 1.4 (maroon, 75hp)
  3. 2009-2011 Opel Corsa 1.6 (red, 109hp)

July 13, 2008 (still have the temporary plates with the dates  )- present:

2004 BMW 330i

I really enjoy this car and I'll be keeping it for as long as possible. When the engine dies, I'd like to make it into a WTCC style car and do DE's. Or a wedge in an E39 M5 or E92 M3 V8.

17 vehicles - one vehicle per year of driving, although 2 of them are scooters. Go figure. 3 were brand new when I got them, 2 were company cars (can I count those?) and 1 car I've owned twice.

1982 Mitsubishi Sigma (2001-02)
1987 Mitsubishi Magna (2001)
1986 Toyota Corolla (2002)
1984 Ford Telstar (2002-03)

What kind of maintenance issues were you having, if any, on the cars with the high mileage?

All diesel Skodas here I'm afraid, and all inherited from my parents :):

2004-2007: 00' Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDi
2007-2008: 03' Skoda Fabia sedan 1.9 Tdi, 100 HP, but dead ugly.
2008-present: 04' Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI
2009-present: Peugeot JetStar 125cc scooter

Since 1994

1994 Nissan Hardbody, SE-V6 King Cab
1986 Nissan 300ZX Turbo GLL
1984 Nissan 300ZX GL
2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT

notice a brand pattern? Honestly the last one I didn't set out to buy a Nissan product. I just drove a lot of cars that fit certain criteria, and I just happened to like that one the most.

And as a side note, I still own all of those cars with the exception of the 1984 300ZX. That car was free and was only a parts car for the Turbo 300ZX. I got what I wanted out of it and sold it for scrap. It was pretty well stripped out when I got it.

My vehicular his is short and horrible...

1. 2000 Chevy Cavalier. Black. 4 Doors. First Car. Crashed it into a telephone pole.
2. 2001 Hyundai Elantra. Burgundy. Crashed it into a Ford E-350 Van head-on. Ouch.
3. 1990 Ford Ranger. Nicknamed "Piles". Got it for $800 to punish myself for destroying my last 2 cars (and learn to drive a 5-speed).
