This is a hypothesis right? So then money is no issue... Of course it's the Zonda! It is RARE and handbuilt... And it's really Italian, not... German... I think Lambo's are German now yeh?
This is an interesting post and an interesting topic to look at. Yes, Lamborghini is now owned by Audi which is owned by Volkswagen, but with the Murcie, the Italians still did the styling and the engine and the handling but the Germans did the ergonomics and the things that the Germans do well. According to JC, the Murcielago is the ultimate Lamborghini. Now yes the Murcielago has had German influence. The Zonda, was built by Pagani, now Horacio Pagani is Argeninian and was introduced to Italy by his childhood hero Juan Manuel Fangio. He worked for Lamborghini initially and set up Modena Design and Pagani in the early ninties. The Zonda's engine is built specifically for Pagani by none other than the Germans: Mercedes AMG, which is interesting, because the Germans have a significant hand in both.
The Zonda, it could be said, is more of a 'bitsa' than the Lambo. While the Lambo was designed built and filled by Italians with Italian stuff, with the help of the Germans and named after a Spanish bull. The Zonda was inspired by an Argentinian, designed by an Argentinian, named after an Argentinian word (meaning light breeze, it was originally to be called the Fangio, after Horacio Pagani's childhood hero and the man who helped him get his start with Lamborghini in Modena but was renamed to Zonda after Fangio's death as a mark of respect), built by Italians, stuffed with Italian stuff except for a dirty great German engine.
So there it is, please don't choose the Zonda because it's more Italian, both cars are just as Italian as the other.
My pick? The Zonda hands down. The Lambo is brash and dramatic but the Zonda is beautiful. Take a look at the profile, the massive but shapely rear quarter, those little details, the way those four (!) exhaust pipes dominate the rear of the car. Zonda without a doubt.
