As I said in lastest purchase thread. A Model Year 2016, 4 cylinder, floor mounted throttle equipped, 6 speed (Automatic) transmission, direct injected, naturally aspirated, entry level automobile painted in brown. Very cheap and quite cheerful.
I used to have a very odd Honda Fit Grandma Special Sedan that came 6th in Worst Car on the Forum contest, but that was gone since February 2015 as it was getting old. It was replaced by a 2011 Toyota Corolla. I didn't bother making a thread for that one for two reason. First, it's a frickin Corolla. And second, it's not really mine and I've been using it for like once or twice a month. I didn't really need a car for pretty much the entirety of 2015. I do need one now though.
Living in Bangkok is a pain in the arse. Public transport is so bad that it's not an option, and that lead to the traffic being so bad getting anything special is not ideal. It does not matter how fast your car can do, you won't do it here. Parking is also quite a bitch, so no point in getting anything big either (Hell, parking a Corolla is difficult here!) All of that with lower purchase tax on a class of car call "Eco" (Ecology, not Economical, or so the government say) which include things like Nissan March, Nissan "Chinese Versa" Almera, Mitsubishi Might-aswell-stab-yourself, Suzuki Swift, Suzuki Celery, Suzuki Ciaz, Honda Brio, Toyota Yaris and THIS!
2016 Mazda 2 Skyactiv High Connect Hatchback
This is the near top trim level of the Petrol 2, the Diesel is also available but for a lot more money. Only thing that's missing from the top Petrol trim is leather seat. So this has all the equipments that I want and even some that I didn't know I actually want. Mazda's Infortainment with 6 speakers, Fancy Interior, Alloy Wheels, Climate Control (with heater for some weird reason).
That and it's BROWN. Titanium Flash Mica to be specific.
After I bought it I went to Europe. And I felt something I never thought I would. I missed this car. Hell if it'd have been possible I'd totally bring this car out to Europe with me! But since I couldn't do that I'll likely in the future bring it to the great local roads, it'll be a lot of fun to do so. Hell it's a lot of fun in the city already!
The only cons I could think of that you guys would think as a cons is is that it's an Automatic. Mazda do not offer Manual Gearbox in any passenger vehicle here (You cannot get it in the MX-5! Sacrilege! You do get them in BT-50 truck however). But for me driving Manual in Bangkok is very much not ideal so it's actually a good thing. The engine is a 1.3 Skyactiv unit producing 92hp. The car weighs about 1040kg and I couldn't say much other than that it's "merely enough".
Here are some pretty pictures!
I do not use fog lights normally, obviously.
Red stitching!
Floor mounted throttle pedal!
Just ignore this. I didn't have a choice! Yes, it has sport mode. No, it does not make the car faster. (Only more BRAAAAP as it's keep the car in gear for longer.)
And here's some dashboard detail for Rick. The interior is much nicer than all of it's rival and even some car a class or two above.
All of the above pictures (Except the engine shot which is by me) are taken by my good photographer friend Jade. Here is his FB page. He does portraits and other stuff as work and Automotive as hobby.
And here's the proof pic.
