If any of you every have a chance to attend a round of FIA World Rallycross or Red Bull Globar Rallycross in person, I highly recommend it, it'll blow your mind away. A few weeks ago I spent some time with Mattias Ekstr?m outside Hamburg and this is now one of my favourite forms of motorsport now.
Is this place. It's a man made "lake" created for collecting the waste from a nearby Copper Mine. The 70m tall dam was built in the early 80s and the waste swallowed around 400 houses. This is how the valley looked before(you can see the same church):
The village's name was Geamana, you can find more info on google if you search "Geamana, Alba"
I was amazed to see a couple of families still living nearby the lake(like 10-30m away, with small vegetables gardens and animals), also some ducks were swimming without care... so I'm guessing it isn't as toxic as it looks.
Depending on the weather, there can be some spectacular colors(last week-end the blood-red part of the lake-as seen on google maps- was not red, because there was lot of rain lately). Here are some galleries of the same place with pictures taken by people that know what they do: http://zoom.mediafax.ro/nature/geamana-iazul-valea-sesii-11602494 http://www.amusingplanet.com/2014/06/geamana-romanian-village-flooded-by.html
