Depends on what you are looking for. The Republic was useless and ineffectual. Under the Empire there was order. Something as large and complex as the Star Wars galaxy would require firm rule to stay together as a single entity.

It's not so much sleeping in the summer as staying awake in the fucking winter. It's been properly dark outside my office window for at least 40 minutes and we've still about 6 weeks to go until the shortest day.
