Lens Flair

Dang it, I keep thinking that I lack all of these things that make good photos (composition, texture, lighting, etc.).

Thanks, silencer.

We have a number of sunny days in the dead cold of winter and the sun's peak angle over the horizon is about 45 degrees :)

Around here it's like February in Boston:

"The weather is gray, rainy, gray, sleet, gray, rain, gray, sleet, snow, gray; every day it just gets grayer and grayer and grayer! You wake up one day, and you go, 'I'm not comin' into work today!' Your boss goes, 'Why not? You sick?' 'No! It's too gray!' Then you wake up and it's the grayest day you've ever seen! And the next day, it's even grayer! And that's usually Valentine's Day, and that's the day you look at your wrists and go, 'Hey, maybe I should slit 'em to see color!'"

@Donthomaso, I like the milk and oregano shot. Looks to me like the focus is spot on. You have a nice series going with the background of pure colors.

@IceBone, we had some of that too. A few gray days in a row. Then it got hot, then cold. Tomorrow hot again. (Basically can't make up its mind.) From 30's to 70's back down and up again. *Sigh*

I'd have stopped the aperture down a bit, to increase the sharpness, and the flash power so you could quicken it up a bit and make the shot even more still. Great shot otherwise, though.

Thanks for the comments. Have you checked the exif ?
200mm, 1/3200, f/14.0, SB600 flash on full power

I dont think that stopped the aperture even more down would help.. I think the problem is that I had focused on the drops itself, and with such small DOF the "splash" went out of focus especially on the front.. so next time i try to focus a bit more to the front..

@Alok, if the weather is great i will come maybe. seen that the northloop is open on the 4th, so i would come with my own car.. but i wouldt bet much on it.. very long trip for this season

ok, this is the last time i bother you guys with a pictures of my waterdrop series

Ah. The large focal length caused it. Try getting closer next time. You won't lose any perspective @ 70mm for instance. At that focal distance, the DOF will be much deeper, even @ f/8, which is the sharpest point of most lenses.

Lens is a 18-200VR, its not a macro lense.. I cant get much closer.. And i wanted the background to be blury and also didnt want to crop the picture like crazy.. But if I build this drop setup again I will also try with less zoom and let you know if it worked. Thanks for your help !

Snow. Snowwww. Snowy. Snow. Snow-shaped. I went for a walk in the cold yesterday, most of the pictures turned out blurry though because I had the shutter speed way too slow :(

Some pics from my balcony: tonights Duisburg harbor with a bit of fog.

^^These are nice. Going to experiment a bit with that myself, meaning to do some long exposure in the city for a while now...

Anyway, here is my shot for today:

Still using HDR THE REAL STIG? :p Only joking I think it kind of works with shots like that, tonemapping always seems to make grass look radioactive though. If you just changed the saturation I'm going to look like a complete arse for posting this so if that's the case, sorry :|.
