The dot matrix roadsign vulnerability was in 2600 ages ago. Nothing special, just walk up to one, reset the pass, and type in what you want. Unless there is a lock, in which case bolt cutters work fast.

The hard part is finding one you can walk to as you don't really want to park your car next to one while you're fiddling around with it. Also, some of the new ones have wireless connections so DOT can change them back remotely.

Apparently this is making the rounds on teh interwebs again, so que the script kiddies and dumbfounded reporters....

And a further thought on that note... do they print it on the front of their vehicles in the same way as ambulances or police vans do?
