Do you have to play the gymkhana events in order to continue the game? This game actually sounds and seems lots of fun but I just ordered L.A. Noire ._. I'll be buying this from the sales at least.
Oh boo fucking hoo. PC users haven't been able to sell/trade games in over 10 years and you don't see us complaining.
When you buy the game new, it comes with a code, much like PC games do. You enter it and it ties it to your account, much like PC games do.
You console users are so entitled.
My strategy lately is to mostly not buy games at launch for full price. Paid DLC is fine when the game only costs $20.... but I'm not going to drop $60 on something that is incomplete from launch (and of course it's different if new content is added later a la GTA4).
Try paying $100 for a game (when the exchange rate is AUD$1:US$1.05) and having that bullshit
Hey! I'm not!
I don't have a huge problem with online codes. But launch day DLC, that's another issue...
Yeah Australian gamers get raped. Check this out - http://gamecafe.com.au/GamePrices.aspx?p=PS3&Search=dirt 3 Find a decent price to buy from and also see how much Australian stores charge for a game.
I don't have anything against launch day DLC. It's pretty much as if they would release a 'limited edition' box with few extra cars like Gran Turismo or Forza do.
Then again, this is from someone who has never bought any DLC content for any game as a separate purchase (I got the expansions for GTA4 as a bundle with my Xbox) and generally only judge a game by how it is in the box it came in and not by what extras I can get if I pay some more.
Four DLC packs for DiRT 3 have been revealed via leaked trophy lists from the PS3 version of Codemasters' upcoming rally racer.
Trophy lists for the unannounced DLC popped up on PS3Trophies.org over the weekend revealing that multiple DLC packs are already on the way for the next DiRT, including a Mud and Guts Car Pack, Power and Glory Car Pack, Monte Carlo Track Pack, and an X Games Asia Track Pack.
Each pack includes four additional trophies, with new cars and tracks (including Shibuya) divvied up between them. There's no mention of a price or release date for either of the packs.
The extensive amount of DLC could be Codies' way of making up for a missed opportunity with DiRT 2. Other than timesaver unlock keys, Codemasters didn't release any downloadable content for its previous rally game.
DiRT 3 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC tomorrow, 24th May. It's well worth taking for a spin.
Doesn't really look as good as dirt 2 though. Lots of low detail objects and textures about the place. People and trackside objects look like what you would see in a top down strategy game like Company of heroes or World at war. (Water effects through puddles are particularly bad)...
I can't work out why they give you more rep points for which car you choose. In the stadium truck races, the trucks are all the same but with one they give you 100 points and the other something like 400. Everyones already mentioned the short rally stages.
