Can anyone recommend a good German auto magazine? I would like to subscribe to one but I don't want to pick a crap magazine.

I have no idea, but I bet David Hasslehoff is on the cover.

From now on I'll post a G.I. Joe pic and a Kangaroo in ever US/Australia related topic. Let's see how funny it will be after a while. *yawn*

What the other Germans said, plus an extra vote for Sport-Auto ( http://www.sportauto-online.de/) simply because they do the Nordschleife laps, a cool tune up series and they don't care about environmental stuff. Don't buy it if you strongly dislike Porsches, though;-)

I'm subscribed to Auto Motor and Sport and rather happy with it, language's not too difficult and not to basic as well. (If you'd want that, go for Auto Bild, but don't complain about afterwards :) - I suppose you're getting a German mag for enhancing your language skills as well, right?)

right.

I want a great auto mag and I want to learn more. Its completely 50/50.

I just wanted to add that the standard AutoBild has little to nothing to do with the AutoBild Sportscars. Of course, they come from the same publishing house, but regarding quality, that's about it.

I've never read AutoBild Sportscars, so no commment on that.

Just don't get the standard AutoBild if you're up to pick up some German - that'd be really bad influence. :)

Autobild Sportcars is.....well.....it is quite OK but too thin imho, you finish reading it after ~15 Minutes.

Sport Auto is concentrating a little bit too much on races etc (whole part only about VLN & co.)

I'm looking for a magazine like Top Gear or Automobile Mag here in the US. I really don't like race articles. If I'm going to take the time to stuggle to read something, I want it to be interesting.

edit: I emailed SportAuto and Auto Motor Sport about a subscription, it seems like it will be quite expensive. (Compared to a domestic mag here ~$10-$12 for a year)

pff, this thread got the order all wrong. Shame on you all!

Its:

1: First post + question
2, 3 ,4 : serious answers
5+: off topic, pictures ect..
27: 14 month bump

I don't see what the problem is. Everyone gets the piss taken out of them all the time. As you said, Americans get the standard "fat, stupid" comments, we get "convicts, live with kangaroos", it's a part of life. Yes, it gets repeated ad nauseum, you just grin and bear it, or make some jokes back. It's OK to laugh at yourself from time to time.

I thought that picture was funny, so I posted it. The second one is a photo of some German friends of mine making fun of their heritage. I'm not trying to be offensive, or antagonise you. If I did, then I apologise, but quite frankly, it's all pretty harmless fun.
