Russia Plans World's Longest Tunnel, a Link to Alaska

I doubt the UK gets many illegals thru the tunnel, but I could be wrong. I don't think the tunnel poses much of a risk compared to our miles and miles upon miles and miles of open border.

Point of information :
The UK - Continent tunnel is in fact three tunnels. Bore 1 Rail down to France, Bore 2 a road tunnel only open to emergency and maintenance vehicles and Bore 3 up traffic from France rail. There was an attempt to go from London to New York by land sponsored by Ford when they tried to cross the Baring Sea when it was frozen in a special one off vehicle, unfortunately the attempt failed.

not impressed.

Do you think there'd be a filling station in the tunnel? And how much would gas cost there lol?

Yep, I can see the flood of rusty Ladas pouring out, each containing ten people who intend to stay.

My friend drew this up the other day.

^Thats great

Personally, I couldn't care less about the tunnel. I don't live that close to its site.

It would make sense if there would not be any technological progress in the world but fact is that world is changing fast and that tunnel with its natural gas pipe could end up obsolete far sooner than they expect.

Please elaborate. Personally I think it sounds a bit pointless at this stage anyway, at least for automotive traffic, but the gas line should help pay it off. Until we can start teleporting cargo I don't think it will be too obsolete :p .

yeah you can move cargo but will it ever get invested money back and in capitalism its not just getting money back, big profit is wanted too.

25 years from now for example solar power is at another league.

I like the idea of it, but how much demand is there for a tunnel from a non-populous part of Russia to a non-populous part of the US?

HEY!
