2009 Le Mans/LMS/ALMS Thread

slightly OT ... this is the first time I've seen Le Mans live on TV ... it seems to me that most of the footage is about dudes standing around the pits rather than of the race itself. Is this normal?

Well SpeedTV here in Amerikanland is mostly using the world feed which consists of seeing the cars on the track. During the night they did more pit related stuff due to the cameramen being on break.

Jan Magnussen has been ruled out by the GM team management, since even though he wanted to race, the team felt it wouldn't responsible to let him do so.

On the bright side, according to Doug Fehan, the Corvettes will allowed to race to the finish.

Oh noes! The Vette!

is there any english stream online?

Thanks :), needed a stream because my digital tv box is only showing stuttering pictures, very annoying.

Indeed. Hopefully the Corvette GT2 project remains alive, that should at least keep those fantastic machines on track, even if at a lower level of performance.

Right, 22 hour mark, only two hours to go.

P1
Things have really settled down on top. #9 leads from #8 and the gap has remained at over 1? minutes. With #1 still holds third with Dindo Capello lapping faster than the Peugeots at the moment. The #007 Aston Martin is now a lap behind the Audi. The Oreca Malmut holds fifth further four laps back and the #7 Peugeot is one lap behind it. The Speedy Racing still holds seventh ahead of the two-man #14 Kolles Audi.

P2
Things also remain settled in P2 with Essex Porsche remaining three laps clear of the Navi Team Goh Porsche, Speedy Racing holding third another five laps behind and RML holding fourth.

GT1
Drama for the #64 Corvette on the closing stages as the car has come to a halt near pit entry. That leaves #63 well clear in the lead and at the moment the Alphand Aventures #73 Corvette is five laps behind the #64 on third.

GT2
No changes on top, #82 Risi Competizione Ferrari maintains the lead over the BMS Scuderia Italia Ferrari, AF Corse Ferrari and the #83 Risi Competizione Ferrari. JMW Motorsport is securing a Ferrari 1-2-3-4-5 with the lone Spyker remaining as the best of the rest on sixth.

aston #87 broken down?

Heh, Jan Magnussen still haven't given up, he just texted the Danish commentators that he was lying 'upstairs' in his drivers suit and was just waiting for the team to give him the OK sign. He felt it's only a matter of time, as he "hasn't vomited for at least 15 minutes now!" :D

#13 lola aston speedy stopped along the straights...it must be so frustrating to break down with less than 2 hours to go...

Moving back to the PC, had to stay on the telly as the race was being broadcast on Eurosport 2. Looks like Peugeot's "Brabham Decision" is paying off... in '93 they had another Brabham in their cars and took the win.

EDIT: The #13 Speedy Sebah Lola-Aston is on the move under its own power again. Phew... :)

But you wrote before that he was ruled out by GM? Is he allowed to go on the podium then?

#78 AF Corse Ferrari is in trouble as well, they might lose the podium finish in GT2 as they were only one lap ahead of the second Risi Competizione Ferrari...

#24 OAK Racing Pescarolo Mazda is having similar problems as it's sister car (the #35) had earlier in the morning with fire, smoke, oil, all the rest of ti coming out of the back of it. Still continuing though.
