It's the other way around for me.
Azureus seems to download from the least peers possible (probably resulting in the least TCP overhead) while uTorrent tends to download from as many people as it can while still staying about ~3KB/sec per person.
The thing I like about uTorrent's methods is that if a peer slows down on your or something, you won't notice a speed drop as there's plenty of other people you're downloading off. On Azureus however, I'd regularly notice speed dips when someone slowed down on me and before Azureus could find someone willing to send to me.
