Gear's real name will be "Top Gear" in the U.S.

Top Gear is a concept tha escapes Americans, since everyone drives automatic cars... :p
Before anyone -rep me, I AM KIDDING!

I think we are forgetting about individual rights here.

All the different combinations of 'Top Gear' imply that they are superior to all others. We live in a multicultural society here, so the name should be something along the lines of 'Manual transmission's zone at which cruising is maximised, however where acceleration is lesser than that of lower zones. Automatic transmissions are not featured in this program.'

Or something to that effect. Lets not be racist against lower gears now.

It shouldn't. They work by codes (different for each show), and not by the name of the show.

How about "Buy four(five) gears, get Top Gear for free".

Will the show be named Gear, Or Top GeaR?

if NBC bought the rights of the show, I do believe it will be called Top Gear in the U.S., not just "Gear"

So...that's your whole reasoning? Wow...don't go into any of the sciences.
