Hammond: "It's still, that bad?"
Clarkson: "Oh no, Robert Mugabe is bad, this is in a WAY different LEAGUE of badness"

I think the FG just defined that new league of badness....

:)

Apologies skett who quoted this on the favorite Top Gear quotes thread.

This was awfull. If the rest of the season is like that.... And the music in it was just dreadful.

By far the worst episode of Fifth Gear and I already dont really like it that much, I dont care how long it is til Top Gear comes back on coz its so worth it over Fifth Gear, y do they even bother taking on Top Gear, seriously........

I can't find the new FG show anywhere...

I can't find the new FG show anywhere...

..all I can find is some sort of amateur effort posted on the interweb.

It starts with a disco rendition of the FG theme, with someone's stuffed or embalmed versions of the presenters. I know that kids are clever with all those homemade 'Jedi' videos on YouTanked, but they should leave FG alone, it was sacred ground.
Sheesh - it'd be like South Park mocking organised religion.. no wait.

Seriously - WTF?
I really like the old series - the presentation was smooth - mostly serious with some fun. FG was FG - it had it's own identity, rather than appearing like a TG wannbe. The presenters were allowed to do what they do best (VBH coffee girl now? ..and racing a toy car? if she hadn't run it over, they should be giving that away instead).

Overly staged, stilted, wooden and ultimately boring.

Fingers crossed for the next episode - no American daytime TV presentation, and articles that are FG native, not TG rips.

I want old FG - shoot-outs, car reviews, racing, car exotica (no r :) and the interesting tech articles (yay for crash tests bigger than Euro ncap)) - with the old team. I might be able to cope with the new journo dude while Jason Plato is away, but for someone that doesn't live in the UK, where does the new noddy 'presenter' come from?

Nearly forgot - props to FG for the get well Richard Hammond added to the credits after filming.

They didn't have to do it, but would have looked like gimps if they didn't.

Pants, Awfull, Shite, Wank, simply put ... PATHETIC EXCUSE OF A CAR SHOW.

Im sorry but that was useless - what a waste of bandwith!

Fifth Gear producers, a tip for you. If your aiming to produce a TV show aimed at car enthusiasts, try using a male host that know about cars. VBH needs someone to 'bounce' off, the fella (whoever he is) simply did nothing but fill in the gaps between V.T - sad.

New theme tune sucks.
lovejoy is too cockney.

Why can't I see tiffs face for most of the evo segment?

'There less friction in the air' oh yes that added, something to the show.
It's like they shot the segments live, and they could'not be bothered edit them be byond the cutting to the next camera evey five seconds. There is not that much going on, why are you MOVING THE CAMREA WHILE SHOOTING, this is not some fantastic vista.

'Some say that, no ... yea, some say that' Fire him or make sure you go to some where where you can edit properly. (uncontrollable moving backgrounds are hard to edit ... so don't do it).
'Al gore is one of that rare thing, an american who deserves some respect' ... This comming from a brit who can't speak his own language properly.

Who cares if he has a firm handshake.

Who the hell ... Well at least he knows his stuff. Gotta check that hair tho.

Mini running over R/C ... not funny ... Completely Contrived.

Viky ... ya can't act ... Lovejoy ya can't get out of a car. Retards the lot of them.

... No Comment ... Non Needed ... Good Segment ...

Tom Ford ... Save us!!!

Once I finished watching the show (it was hard and painful since the camera changed every 2 seconds), I can tell you that the constant camera movement was annoying. Top Gear is starting to do that as well.

Other than that, FG producers have to change this show. They were on the right track before going off on a tangent into the third universe.

Arrrrgh I cant get the memory of that piss poor episode out of my head - Hours later im still in shock!

It was like a bad, bad pilot episode...

Maybe they are giving TG a chance to catch up :|

Yeah right....

Ye gods, that WAS a horrible episode. I don't even honestly remember now, the next morning, what cars they reviewed or anything, I was too amazed by how boring it was otherwise. The diner probably sounded good at the producer's table, but it just came off as amaturish in execution, as did the DJ scene. The RC car race was staged, just like all of these type of races. Tiff was barely present - I thought it was his show! Apparently it is the Viki and that Other Guy show now... And the car-vs-stunt plane bit is both repetitive (didn't they just DRIVE a stunt plane at the end of last season? Package deal?), plus it has been done on Top Gear before.

Not interesting in the least. Worst, there was no signature Fifth Gear shootout.

Check out the e-mail i sent them...

OMG guys: what have you done? Let me start by saying that the last series of Fifth Gear was fantastic; professionally produced, interesting, informative, highly credible and seriously entertaining, it absolutely kicked your competitor?s arse! (features on vans and caravans? Lame Parky style chats with z-listers; on a car programme? wake up BBC 2).

The studio setting, the exciting features and most importantly the lead presenters of Tiff, Vicky and Jason meant it rocked.

I?ve just watched the first episode of this series and sat for an hour, gob smacked at what I can only describe as a toe-curlingly bad, American comedy pilot set in a 50?s diner with a stale script and presenters devoid of chemistry. Why? The credibility has gone (Tim admitted he knows nothing about cars!) What?s wrong with Tiff and Vicky presenting?! I love Lovejoy: on Soccer a.m! It?s light-hearted, it?s laddish, it?s entertaining. Why suck the lifeblood of informative car journalism out of Fifth Gear just to try to compete with the Top Gear style banter? Believe me, you didn?t need to; the banter on Top Gear is the only thing keeping it alive, whilst last season?s Fifth Gear ticked every other box; including the light-heatedness. I mean Tom doesn?t take himself too seriously but he?s still a great car journalist and excellent addition to the team. Seriously, the show has gone from Auto Express does cars to Nuts Magazine does cars. From Nissan 350Z to Ssangyong Rodius...

This might sound harsh but please: lose Lovejoy and go back to the old format. Either that or suck in a deep breath and watch the ratings sink as low as the jibes from the T.V. critics.

Yours in hope and anticipation!

PS YOU THINK MY VIEWS ARE EXTREME? CHECK THIS OUT! MAXSON FOR PRIME MINISTER, THAT'S WHAT I SAY! LOL!!!

How about..
the biggest, most utter, complete, brainless, personality-less, boring, mindless, dumb, piece of excrement ever to have walked forth on this earth...

oh yeah, he's a bit of a wanker too!!

Is Vicki's boyfriend a dentist by any chance? It's just that she always seems high on laughing gas when there is absolutely NOTHING funny to laugh about!

And Tom Ford.. once the rescuer of the sane, now it looks like his hair dye went to his brain as even his segment was crapper than crap, son of crapper.

Sorry, but I actually liked the last series, bit too much stffuing, but basically alright, and I really liked the old, not-trying-to-betoo-much-like-TG type of series, with real road tests, interesting stuff about crashes and that, but this was tripe.

it looked like a porn movie

it looked like a porn movie

Viki and Lovejoy talking in the cafe reminded me of a bad pre-action-talk-scene of 80s porn movie.

Viki:
"wouldn't it be romantic to make love here in a cafe..?"
LoveJoy:
"ah... I am arriving already! smashing! how delightful"

ferk that was so bad it's been haunting me for the last few days...
a traumatic experince... those 45 odd minutes of bizzar mixture of porn, motoring show, ex-racing drivers and destruction... pure evil that episode

Don't get me wrong, I am not anti-fifthgear.
I did love season 9 alot.

Hmmm, after reading all this I am really not sure I want to download the episode. But I am confused, how could it get worse and they get rid of plato?? I really did not like him.

I watch this (when there is no new Top Gear) with friends, and last season I started editing the shows, I would fast forward all the crap bits, and leave the ok bits. my record was 45min -> 14min.

I have a fealing I might beat that with this episode.

OK, it took me a while to place it but now I know what this episode reminded me of...A PBS teledon. The only thing that was missing were people in the background answering phones.
