All three are too large, too thirsty and just too flashy. But I'll tell you one thing...over here they're a hoot to have and I'd kill to have any of them.

Vette is the size of a Porsche 997, CTS-V is size of BMW 5-series, and Challenger is in ballpark of. All highly successful vehicles in Europe and further East like Russia.

As for too flashy? In civilized world? Standing next to Ranger Rover Sport, Maserati GT, Bentley, Rolls, Porsche? Because you know none of those cars are sold "in civilized world", nope Europeans are all very conservative and just drive around in boring hatchbacks.

Lovely stereotype...

Wow, amazing!!

Skipped through SIARPC segment just to see the rest of the US stuff. It was great to see those cars in San Francisco and going up I-80 to Tahoe. I've been back & forth that way so many times it all looks familiar to me. Although it's too bad they didn't do anything much in San Francisco other than just start there.

The deserted highway stuff, the salt flats... all very very awesome. What a great way to test out those cars.

And yes, Reno is pretty awful. My friends and I like going mostly as a joke. It can be fun but it is pretty trashy.

Best part was seeing Jeremy getting busted by the Reno Police

I was seriously rooting for them to hit their speed marks, and for once I wasn't ashamed as an American watching Top Gear review American cars. Can't wait for next week!

No kidding. Even up to the end I was expecting them to conclude that the cars were tons of fun, but rubbish for one reason or another. I was truly surprised, and really happy, to see them conclude all three are great cars!

Hey all, long time TG fan, first time poster, many time downloader...etc.

What a joy it is to see all three presenters actually get some enjoyment out of American cars. Usually I have to cringe every time they review a car made under an American brand name. At least this time was different!

I've flown over much of the southwestern US, and yes, most of it is a gigantic nothing. But you get into the mountains and the terrain and roads become really stunning. I'd like to see TG do a story on some of the roads in the high Rockies (Colorado, etc).

As for the State department...well, lets hope the bring back a level of rationality to visa applicants. The very notion that one needs a specialized Visa to film in the US is some how...antithetical to stated American ideals of free speech. But eh, I'm just a common Joe.

Awesome. The "State Department" thread got in the way of Jeremy's commentary about San Francisco, I was actually looking forward to listening to what he had to say about, well, there's so much to say about the 16th largest city in America... :)
.

Indeed, i miss living near SF

That was the best episode I've seen in a long time. Something about the cinematics just seemed extremely passionate. 10/10 from me!

I must have watched that Vette take the curve in the mountains 10 times. What an awesome episode!

I drove from LA to Las Vegas last month, and the scenery is very similar to the stuff in the episode. I always hoped TG would come to the US and check out the desert. My wish was granted sooner than I expected!

Great job all around.

STUPID, USELESS, AMERICAN POLICE!!!

For the three years I've been in America, I've always been annoyed by them, but now I'm even more annoyed!

What's the problem with revving your engine and having a little smoke of the tires, as long as you are not speeding? "Disturbing the neighbourhood..." Grrr!

uh wrong, thats a good thing they're doing, if they didn't then every stupid kid in their modded cars would be revving and acting like assholes unchecked in neighborhoods and urban centers. I'm not sure why you would want ppl to do that where crowds of ppl live.

I said that I wouldn't review or grade this episode, and I won't. I do want to say though, that all these quick shots of everything are making me feel like doing something that I've never done before in my entire life. That something is have a seizure!!! Please, please, please, more prolonged shots that are edited together with less of a hurried feeling to them. I noticed this last series in the Scuderia review, the film shots seem to blip onto the screen and then disappear. I know you guys are doing your best, but it would be nice to return to the older way of doing things with the camera work.

They sure do love to go to the biggest shitholes in America to show the UK "what America is like"

Oh god, that's for sure.

I was a bit concerned that it was going to be another American embarrassment show, but I started to relax a bit when James decided to stop whingeing and show us what he's got.

And on that OBAMA-shell, I'll give it an 8/10.

:tumbleweed:

AMEN 10/10

im weening my roomate onto Top Gear and i had just showed him the TG when they were in america last time so it made the whole State Department thing much funnier. i am very much NOT a Vette fan, but, thats is a great car even moreso i hate caddys, but, i now like that one. what an Epp. AWSOME :D:D:D

as far as the police thing, it is sad but true about screaching the tires, thankfully, if i get stopped for it here im usually doing it in a safe place and the cops always hear my plea that i was just having some fun and they lets it go.

God was the Obama-shell thing awsome, we may have a new word, kinda like Governator or "cuz i can see russia from my house!"

As an american, can I just apologize for Reno, Nevada, the department of state, and our (until recently) crop of generally bad cars?

I guess this is the first time that I've ever watched Top Gear and (at times, not including the casino scene and those bike cops) really been proud of America.

But seriously about that visa, though, why not say that TG won loads of BAFTAs for being a "Factual Programme"? Probably not enough for Condi Rice, though.

Gave it 9/10

Love the Fiat 500 Abarth. I wish they would bring that car to Canada.

Loved the Challenger - ZR1 - CTS-V bit. ZR1 and the CTS-V are probably the best cars GM has made so far (I say so far...we will see what the future holds for GM). Challenger is equally as good I think. Honestly I watched this episode with the attitude that I dont give a **** about what Clarkson, May, or Hammond think about these cars. They are great cars and I'd be happy to own either one of them

Oh man, James loving that car through the mountains put a massive smile on my face. And when he took Clarkson, that was brilliant.

Indeed, it was a pleasant change to see James enjoying* himself, rather than just playing the reluctant participant.

* and by this I do not mean pleasuring
