It deserves to be posted twice. ;)

Mazda Furi it's just a concept so nothing definite about it being put into production

in regard to rotaries and hp/l just remember a 1.6L rotary has a working displacement somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.2L so that 350bhp isn't quite as impressive as it first seems

Yes, that's it. Sorry I didn't mention it in the post.

I was actually being conservative with the power/litre numbers; even the wiki says "450bhp", but we all know how prototypes and concepts go...
Nonetheless, even with comparable displacement Wankels are lighter and smaller than the equivalent standard engine.

That is so true.
The only car I remember (from the top of my head) that the production car made more power then the prototype is the Ford GT. Unless I am mistaken, Ford claimed it would have 500hp and the production car has 550hp!

How does everybody think the Furai is a 2 rotor?

Its a 20B-MSP!!! As in 2 liters and 3 rotors.

Is that a bridgey or a pp? I need that in my RX7 with a ppg dogbox :)

I saw a beautiful RX-3 today... it had temporary plates on it, so I'm guessing someone just bought it, I hope it's coming to my neighborhood not leaving. It sounded so good as it tore off.

A guy on RX7club.com just finished his quad rotor FD race car. Well he finished the engine at least, I'm sure there is more to be done.

Engine:

Initial dyno run:

The engine is a peripheral port 26b (effectively) and on the intial dyno run, it made 285whp at 5500rpm and only 75% throttle. Doesn't sound like much, but with a PP its barely even into the rev range and just over half way to redline. Should make well over 500whp, all from a naturally aspirated 2.6!!!

Even 500 seems low for a 26b.

Seems it made around ~470whp on its first solid tune. Not quite as much as I thought it would, but they are going to further tweak it.

Fuck! I'm putting this in a spoiler tag... I recommend getting a jizz rag or change of underwear ready

Nice to see a decent thread on that forum... I stopped going there 6 years ago because it was full of fucking retards going on about efficiency or how if it's not one of the clearly known to be useful mods, then the factory did it best

I've been thinking, and it would be sick if they placed a rotary into a lightweight chassis like the Atom now that would fly!
