So, this car company with the most great cars

While I absolutely love subaru, as far as great cars... there are not that many, and they are incarnations of an Impreza :D

I thought as soon as he said it of Ford.
Fiesta XR2i, Escort XR3i, Escort Cosworth, Sierra XR4, Sierra Cosworth, Lotus Cortina, Capri RS, Focus RS, etc. etc.

i was originally going to argue against Ford however after reading this post and then taking a quick look on Forza 3 and seeing the lineup on there, i can see the reasoning behind many peoples choice for Ford and i'll have to quietly agree that ford does stand a better chance of winning than others.

If they were looking for the car maker that made the most great cars in % of all models it should be Pagani :) 100% great cars ^^

For me it has to be Alfa Romeo.

VW: sirocco, Golf GTI, RS4, Flying Spur, Veyron, I could go on! :D
I reject your reality and substitute my own

never liked Ford, and is the same story with GM and Chrysler, but if they're the best car-producing company because of their sales, then, let them say they're the greatest, to me it was always and always will be Volkswagen: Porsche, Bentley, Skoda, Seat, Audi, Bugatti and so on, VW helped at least half of the european market, and yes Hitler was their co-founder so you can hate me, but it's my opinion.

If you're going to add in all the companies under the parent company then let's look at all of Ford's companies (at one time or another):

Lincoln
Mercury
Mazda
Volvo
Aston Martin
Land Rover

porsche! only flaw: 914.. others have much more.. ;)

audi
audi_21.jpg

Lancia, Alfa Romeo & Jaguar.
Just look at how many people love these brands. Low volume comparitily, but there are many gems in that lot.

Ford just make cars, millions of them & thousands of variations. Like a room full of monkeys banging away at typewriters, with enough monkeys you get Shakesphere.

Why don't people justify their choices with lists of great cars the manufacturer has made?

I am having a hard time believing that Top Gear aka Clarkson will give Ford or any American company a top-dog spot like "company with the most great cars". They may get a strong mention and some discussion but in the end I'd imagine his colonial attitude will win out. I wouldn't be surprised if they went for something out of left field for this segment and I'd also expect much banter and backlash during this stuff.

That said, here's what I envision Top Gear's argument FOR Ford:

Model T, Assembly Line (again wouldn't be surprised to see Top Gear try to "take away" from this invention like they do with a lot of "American" inventions), Mustang (most iconic car...ever?), Ford GT 40 (old and new), Euro Ford Focus, Cosworth (A JC favorite)

^ They'll at least mention those if Ford is given legitimate due.

^They like Ford, he OWNed a Ford GT and the Mondeo has won car of the year more than once iirc and they love the rally cars.

Ford:

GT40
Sierra Cosworth
Escort RS Cosworth
RS200 Evo
Edsel (er, legendary, but perhaps not "great")
Model T
Lotus Cortina
Mustang (and its Shelby variants)
Mondeo?
Fiesta
Falcon
Rally Focus
Tyrell F1
Ford Shogun
also
Ford F1
Ford Veyron
Ford Zonda
Ford Daytona
Ford CCX
Ford 600 Grosser
Ford Beetle
Ford Cooper
Ford Range Rover
Ford SLR
Ford F355
Ford Enzo
the list goes on

hmm

http://www.ideafinder.com/history/inventions/assbline.htm
In order to keep up with the increasing demand for those newfangled contraptions, horseless carriages, Ransom E. Olds created the assembly line in 1901. The new approach to putting together automobiles enabled him to more than quadruple his factory?s output, from 425 cars in 1901 to 2,500 in 1902.
Olds should have become known as "The father of automotive assembly line," although many people think that it was Henry Ford who invented the assembly line. What Ford did do was to improve upon Olds?s idea by installing conveyor belts. That cut the time of manufacturing a Model T from a day and a half to a mere ninety minutes. Henry Ford should been called "The father of automotive mass production

Still American though so yay for you :p.
It's not Top Gear that "take away" the inventions though. It's facts and history.

BMW:

ALL the M3?s were great cars , always beating audi , merc , and everythink else

E30
E36
E46
E90
E92

All the M5?s , including the last one have been just like all the M3?s , (AKA Superb)

E28
E34
E39
E60

The current M6 is the only bmw i think is not really great along with maybe the SUV?s and the 1 series.

Hell i even like the 316i to the point i would buy one :p
