Top Gear Auditions

Best James Bond ever - David Niven in the original Casino Royale. Only Bond movie I've ever been able to watch.

Well my last post rather gave the game away....

Off Topic;

Classmate of mine did the five gold runs, won the trip trekking through Peru/Alaska or whatever, but because he was a singist (cathedral choir, bands as a teen), he had a bet with Bob Holness that if he got through he would sing on the show, and he did and he did. A cappella yesterday by Philip Bliss. He spent time as a consultant proctologist?no clues from schooldays, or at least what I saw/felt now orthopaedics I think.

Yeah I was desperate to get on that show as a teen. I got the school to apply but I was underage and the muppet who did get on from the year above achieved epic fail.

How about LEGO presenter - but with really really good words?

You know like Darth Vader and Eddie Izzard one. ...

Sample. May be a lesson in figuring out what to do with your hands.

I would say that is an object lesson in how not to do it. If anyone is successful from the open submissions I doubt very much if their audition tape will be of them standing in their bedroom waving their hands in the air screaming "pick me, pick me."

Well one can't say that for certain only what we would do as part of the screening process and of course that guy is American and therefore more inclined towards the effervescent end of the spectrum.

My personal view is that you need to do something as different and original as possible, presenting yourself physically as well as you can (clean shaven etc) and in a suitable location. The safety of your own home isn't it - if you aren't confident enough in yourself to step outside into the world to record something how are you going to be able to cope in the role?

i will confidently wear British Racing green diapers and read the following:
"This is car. Car goes VROOOM!" <-- my audition tape script needs to be proofread, then I'm ready

My own experiences of speaking in front of large numbers of people suggest to not be intimidated by being the focus of the camera. Many people seize up when they know they're being filmed. Being able to look within oneself and find a sense of comfort about knowing people are listening to you and that you know you are worth listening to whether there's a camera there or not. The producers will be looking to see if you thrive in a presenter's role.

And don't focus on selling yourself; be relaxed and confident and look beyond the barrel of the lens to the person in their living room and talk directly to him. Don't worry too much about what to say beyond it being interesting; they'll be looking more for personality that jumps out of the tv and immediately clicks with the viewer; the 'it' factor that makes you stand out from the other applicants.

Also look on youtube for auditions and screen tests to see what works [and doesn't work] in people's presentations, and what it is about the successful ones that hooks you straight away. Try to emulate the winning chemistry.

Book of Elijah (3:16)

Kinda wishing I had two functioning vocal cords now....

Did you see Hammond on Men and Motors?

? I meant that as "what you said is the truth" (gospel).
Even gave you rep. for the tips~ <3

I apologise then. I really took your meaning as being mocking of my best effort to help anyone who wanted some help; that is, a self opinionated windbag who appears to think he knows everything and is holy writ. I'm sorry I misjudged you. I'm too touchy I guess.

I was really confused, because a Google search for Elijah 3:16 lead me to this passage from the first book of Kings, 3:16.
[The Lord to Elijah: "Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet."

I was also really confused because the first time, I read "Shaphat" as "Snapchat".
