My friend from college, Alex, is a semi-pro rally co-driver. He's been racing very competitively in Rally America for as long as I've known him and saw him race once in Northern PA at STPR and also on TV as Dave Mirra's co-driver during the X-Games. Well he and his current driver, Chris Duplessis are trying to be the first All-American rally team to compete at Rally Finland on the WRC schedule event since 1973, but they're a few bucks short. They have a fundraiser up here: http://www.indiegogo.com/wrcfinland and are asking to raise at least $10k in the next 5 days. Its a short amount of time for a great deal of money, but every little bit counts.

I wouldn't be posting this if I didn't really believe in them. Alex is one of the nicest people I know, and incredibly smart. He and I were in all the same classes in college while getting Economics degrees, yet he also did a full Rally America schedule and got the same grades as I did (maybe I should have tried harder )! He's a hardcore Top Gear fan like the rest of us and used to come over to my place with the rest of the Penn State Auto Club to watch brand new episodes I'd burn on Monday nights. Lets drum up some support and help fellow gear-heads reach the dreams we all long for!

Thank you all again in advance!

This guy Alex must join here. He shall be crowned king and paraded around in a sedan chair for all of the proletariat to see.

Wow! Well in 20 hours, they made their goal and will be competing in Finland!! They need a total of $15,000 to pay the WRC academy still, so each little bit extra helps. I'm not sure if anyone here helped sponsor, but if so, thank you so much! I'll tell Alex to sign up here if he hasn't already and say howdy!

Not only did they finish the rally, but they finished 6th in their class (WRC Academy)! We all couldn't be more proud of them for the effort they made and really giving the USA a good showing over there. I think they turned quite a few heads and hopefully it pays off for them in the future. I'll see if I can find and post some of their on-board footage!
