British oldtimer roadster - need identification :)

The fuel filler is on the wrong side for a originally RHD designed car - could be German, they used to like that silver gun metal colour. Do not recognise it - the rims also look continental.

/EDIT you could be correct in that it may be an AUDI originally sold in a RHD country.
 
I don't really think it was an Audi, but it had a "multiple ring-ish" looking logo....
 
My guess is that this is a VW Type 1 based car. Look at the early beetle for example:

Its a DKW F91 Cabrio. Audi like logo because DKW was one of the members of the Auto Union, later to become Audi. I remember it from the Audi Museum, where they have a black one.

I never new cabrios of those existed......and RHD Versions. So I assumed it was british :)
