My guess is it's to secure the bonnet - at some car-club track days you need a second method of bonnet security in case the factory catch fails. So he's probably using the strap instead of fitting bonnet pins.

its a road car, so its the 2nd bonnet strap, a requirement for the club track day..

It does and I like it, but it's not me I don't know I just don't like blowing a photo to much.
