Forgive me if this has been posted before (I did do a search first I promise) but does anyone have the facility to rip chunks of the show soundtracks to make them available for download?

I ask specifically because in a (fairly) recent episode Jeremy and Hammond were arguing about a car on the Cool Wall and JC sent a text to Kristen Scott Thomas. Later in the show he announced "I've got a text!" - I'd love to be able to have that on my phone when I get a text message so if anyone could help I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

If this is possible, and anyone else has any other soundbites they would like, perhaps they can list them here so it can become a feature of the site?

PS If I had the remotest inkling how to do this myself I'd do it, but I'm at that awkward age when I can't be bothered/am too busy to spend that much time finding out, and my children aren't old enough to show me!

Audacity is your friend!

Audacity is your friend!

Does that mean you're gonna help me, or do I have to track you down and ensure that when are old enough to get a license you'll be needing hand controls????? I'm only a county away you know....<_<

PS For any members of the Thought Police who might be reading this and have had a Humour Bypass, that was a JOKE!!!! I already know where he lives and if I wanted to break his legs I'd hardly warn him first now would I? ;)

Just go to http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and download Audacity - then set it to record the sound on your computer, play the episode you want, press record in audacity and wait for it to finish (make sure e-mail and IM clients are off).

Alternatively just download something like Videora and convert the whole thing to mp3 and then just use your audio editor of choice and edit out the bit you want.

Or just terll me which episode it is (number) and I'll do it for you.

Or just tell me which episode it is (number) and I'll do it for you.

Thanks. If anyone can now identify the episode for me please that would be great. I think it was from series 8 or 9 if that helps and I seem to remember they were arguing about the Peugeot 1007 but not 100%, otherwise I'll be back watching repeats on Dave for the next six months!

You UTTER STAR!! I will get my Tame Geek on the case next weekend when he comes over for a BBQ. Some say his rectum contains a USB 2.0 socket, and that his brain runs the next version of Windows. All I know is he's called Dave. ;)

If you don't mind the download through mobile (it's only 30k) you can also just put http://5tracks.eu/a/ct.mp3 into your mobile phone browser - that will download it for you as well (depending on your mobile).

Or just point your mobile browser to http://5tracks.eu/a/

I found the best thing today. From Top Gear what's that song, you realise that a lot of the music is old TV theme tunes.
I then downloaded this torrent:
http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3763025/100_Greatest_Tv_Themes just to get the Cagney and Lacey theme from when James appeared in his modified Lexus police car. I've been listening to this and instantly recognized the music pieces from eps of top gear. So that torrent above is definitely worth it.
This is the link for if you actually want to buy it instead of downloading above for free like we do with eps of this show:http://www.amazon.com/One-Hundred-Greatest-TV-Themes/dp/B00005Y49F

Top Gear is full of this "great moments" for being used as a ringtone.
Anyone remembers some other fun moment?

Any James May piece that says "Oh Cock"

Nice thought, but I'd hate to be in a meeting having forgotten to turn my mobile off and get a text with that as the alert tone!!! Say goodbye to that particular client and head directly towards a P45 interface!!!

Would be a good error message in Windows 'though. Perhaps one of our more gifted members might want to spend some time constructing a Windows desktop theme that we can all download and enjoy? Here's a few suggestions:
Shutdown: Clarkson "And on that bombshell it's time to end, goodnight!"
Error: May "Oh, cock!"
Incoming Mail: Clarkson "I've got a text!"
Can't think of any more but as I said before I am a bit of a Luddite.

Hey upyourego, could you possibly make a sound clip of james ice cream van siren when rushing to scene of the pretend accident, that was a good one. The liberty bell march aka monty python theme done on an ice cream siren. Brilliant!
