Official: 'Top Gear' coming to History this fall

Is Andy Wilman involved at all? If not, then I'm a little worried.

Is episode 1 going to be the one with Carolla and Stromer?

I doubt it. The host change will prob confuse the average American. So that episode will prob never see the light of day.

One of those guys is on Rescue Me, which airs on FX in the US. (Showtime here in Canada IIRC)

If those channels are owned by A&E, then it would (better) explain their picks to be host.

For the record, I remain cautiously optimistic.

FX is a News Corp channel (F originaly standing for Fox..) i remember when the channel first launched. was an amusing and quirky channel.

tho according to wiki... (bare with me!) NBC owns 25% of A&E. so the link from NBC to History Channel now makes a bit of sense.

I'm glad to see they're not going to try to blindly ape the British format. I think having something more Ameri-centric will work well. Not that TG doesn't have funny stuff, but a lot of the humor will fly over the average American Head, possibly.

It's always good to have more Top Gear, even if it isn't the origional. I hope they stick with it for a few seasons to get everything worked out. If the presenters don't fit, they could always come here to find a replacement!

Hopefully Gear works out to be a Top Gear inspired show rather than a formulaic copy like TG Australia. That was It can at least develop some character and uniqueness.

Very excited that they are going to actually make a TG America even if it looks like it will be slightly different.

Andy was involved with the pilot; but beyond that, I kinda doubt it.

Is episode 1 going to be the one with Carolla and Stromer?

Probably not, but I also hope it'll leak itself to the internets, if only to satisfy my own curiosity.

Phone calls have been placed, with a bit of luck I should be able to get a bunch of ticket for where ever they decide to film, drop me a line if your interested in going.

As to who replaces "America's Jason" well I vote for me.....

I'm excited that there will be a third car show for me to watch. However, from what I've heard of Foust, not so sure this is gonna be a great show. Obviously this can't and won't compete with BBC's Top Gear, but hopefully it'll be more entertaining that the rest of the junk American TV Car Shows.

Tanner popped up on Supercars Exposed on Speed, if you want to get a taste of what he's like as a presenter on topic. He may be a good driver but he's got the personality of cardboard covered in oatmeal. Think an American Tiff. It could be that he has a personality but it's obscured by editing, but he is a racing driver therefore I think no, he has no personality.

Plus the production of the show is super-annoying, complete with all the hackneyed pimp-my-ride effects such as video tape rewind and fast forwarding, et al. And, oh, did I mention it's not entertaining?

I really want this to be good, but my first reaction was: "Who the hell are these people?"

I then looked up Adam Ferrara on Youtube, and immediately discovered a lot of unfunny.

I think Tanner was a victim of poor editing. I have meet Tanner at a couple of Rally America stops and every time he was both engaging and funny, it was really fun talking with him while everyone else was crowding around Ken Block and Travis Pastrana.

I'm just saying over and over.

"Please don't suck. Please don't suck. Please don't suck."

I'm pumped for Top Gear US. There's just one thing I demand from them.

They need to use "Jessica" as the theme song. A different version from the TGUK one. :)
