Random Thoughts... (Motorsports Edition)

People still watch DTM?

They better not be calling it a touring car series then. Those are GT cars with four doors.

I gave up watching DTM after trying it out in the dull 2008 season, but that was a nice battle.

Another wild finish to a NASCAR plate race....

Why are WTCC still using street circuits and more importantly, how is Farfus still allowed to race?

^ Because street circuits are awesome. But they won't race at Pau again for the forseeable future...

Olsbergs MSE will be running 3 Fiestas in the next x-games (August 2nd)! They will be driven by Kenny Br?ck, Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan!!

Watching some season reviews from BTCC's Supertouring era. It's slap-bang-dash-wallop racing at its finest, and with the voice of Murray Walker over it... it's pretty fantastic.

Also, it looks as if a lot of the 1990s shots in Hamster's touring car tribute film were taken from the 1992 and 1993 Season Reviews.

NO FREAKIN' WAY!!!!

July 2009 is "zombie month" for the most famous failures in motorsport. First the Life F190 runs at Goodwood, and now THIS:

Yes, that is the only surviving 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLR, infamous for the aerodynamically-induced flips that occured in practice and during the race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that year. The car was thought to have been sold to a private collector, and now it's still in running order and it's back on track.

^Do you think they have put extra weight up in front?

Bathurst, Spa and the Nordschleife. 3 best race tracks in the world.

Found this short video of Jenson Button driving an old Mercedes at Goodwood Festival of Speed:

Oh my God it feels SOOOOOO good to win! I needed that so much! I was so tired of being second fiddle to my rival in my karting series.

Spectacular helmet cam video at 11!

Not enough FLIPS!

It looks like they could dial out some camber out of those front wheels, too. </anorak>

Margin of win: 1.2 seconds. The guy that was in front of me spun behind me when we passed lap traffic.

And look at this:

First place fastest lap (me): 54.713
2nd: 54.771
3rd: 54.771
My rival: 54.703 (fastest of race)

That's close.

Congrats on the win! Nice video -- I like the sliding at the end.

I've just read an article in a Hungarian motorsport magazine and they claim that Tom Kristensen is an 8-time Dakar rally winner, currently he's racing in WTCC but he's planning to compete in the Le Mans 24 hours next year because he's always wanted to to that.

 :? :|

I can't even comprehend how they could put all this rubbish in one small article.

I burst into laughter when reading that. Stupidity is full of lolz. :roflmao:

They must have got their facts EXTREMELY backwards.

I knew I shouldn't read motorsport Hungarian articles, but I didn't know it was this bad.
But at least it offers comedy value.
